That was one of my favorite things about ripping my entire CD collection a few years ago. "I haven't listened to this in years! Time to fix that right now!"

I'd say "Laid" or "Seven" are great starts. "Pleased to Meet You" is pretty good, too.
I'm with you 100% on that. I'll be at their Seattle show, front and center (with earplugs).
I really liked the self-titled debut, loved "Exploding Head," and thought the "Onwards to the Wall" EP and "Worship" were just alright. The band is kind of a one-trick pony for me. It's a cool trick, but I'm not sure how many albums worth of it I need.
Each of the Smiths albums (and most of their comps) end on such a high note…
Make a little birdhouse in our souls?
When I streamed the song on the webpage, I merely nodded along and listened (it's actually a pretty catchy little tune).
The advice I have to people who are trying to understand Trout Mask Replica is this: either find a vinyl copy or divide up the digital tracks into four playlists that replicate the original album sides (TMR was a double, so sides A through D).
I cracked a huge smile when the dude responded, "Because we had to save Empire Records, you know?" to why they picked this song.
That's actually a good point, and I had never thought of it that way… I dunno, I guess the contrast just works for me.
Funny, that's actually what I love about that version. Combining the huge vocals and a looser performance from the band just makes it flow so well for me.
I agree! The Stop Making Sense performance of this track is probably my favorite song of all time.
I had a friend who wanted to get an Alkaline Trio tattoo. His mother finally talked him out of it when she said, "When I was your age, I almost got a Blue Oyster Cult tattoo."
One sign of a truly great band is when their fans can't even agree on what their best and worst works are.
Jesus, this is terrific! I listened to it during my morning run, and I was like, "Fuck yeah!" the entire time! Great music to move to!
Definitely picking this up tomorrow. Liars are one of my favorite bands from the last ten years or so.
EVERYTHING about this is just perfect. Sometimes, the universe is just flawlessly aligned.
He mentions that Big Black's albums were remastered and reissued without any fanfare. Does anyone know when this happened. I want to know if my copies are the old or new masters.
Except Weird Al's. That one was awesome.
I agree. The "I'm a regular guy with an unusual job" AMAs are way more interesting. The celebrity ones oftentimes seem like they're written by a publicist.
