I'm sorry, I missed when we moved the discussion moved from discussing the adaptation of a sometimes laughably bad fantasy pulp novel series, to Deadwood.

This one was one of the biggest barriers in me taking the first book seriously when I read it.  It almost seemed like a Simpsons parody of some Walter Mitty-esque writer.

I just graduated law school and it is really remarkable how much I quoted Lionel Hutz over the last three years.

I was hoping for a Joe Abercrombie The Heroes reference here :(

I don't consider samurai movies to be martial arts movies.

As shallow as most of the foreign film reviews are, especially the Asian ones, you think the AV Club people speak the languages of these movies?  Their use of the subtitled names is a dead give away.

I was about to write a acidic reply about the worth of Japanese cinema and how it's different from China, and then I realized you're just talking about martial arts movies.  And yeah, Japanese martial arts movies suck.

"Jay concerns about potential conflicts of interest are shot down by Duke"

My name is Scrotum Phillips and I approve this message.

I'm noscar!

I do mean Pat.  Aw shit stick, I'm a dummy.

All I can think of is the SNL Pam skits.

I hope they don't.  The samurai-sword wielding former-lawyer/sex-pot?  Her introduction was I started losing interest in the comic as some fanboy wank session.

The comic wasn't a zombie shoot-fest either. But it had characters you ended up being interested in and their personal conflicts were actually worth "tuning-in" for.  The show doesn't have that and that's why people are complaining.

He shouldn't have to watching the post-game show to understand it (or read the comic for that matter).  Either the show stands on its own or it doesn't.  And other than flashes of brilliance (the first episode in season 1, the last two minutes of this, Glen and Daryl generally) it doesn't.

I think Rabin is still learning how to write.
