"Sandusky" will be playing in my head all day…
…but that's OK. I like it.

Good calls!

Growing up, there was a DJ on the local classic rock station who'd refer to them as "R.E.O. Wimpwagon", in reference to the fact that, in his opinion, they had once rocked but had sold out to do the power ballads.

Cool—that'll be one to put on the wish list!

@Fat Charlie:

Yeah, "Capeman" has its great moments, it's just inconsistent. I still love the song "Bernadette".

Paul Simon and stuff
So, in the second paragraph about Pavement, shouldn't it be "dyed-in-the-wool"? Unless Malkmus & Kannberg passed away while wrapped in wool in some bizarre rock-geek ritual.

God bless Phil Hartman
Haven't seen "The Cane" since it first aired (!), but to this day "Dave stole my cane, and my ass hurts" and (to a greater extent) "This one displeases me" still crack me up.

Yeah…I'd argue that their first album is better than Oh No, although Oh No generated more buzz due to the videos and what-not.

This week's blind spot…
…is New Pornographers. Just about every week, Popless points me to some band/performer that I have no excuse for neglecting, and "The Laws Have Changed" is like 3 solid minutes of everything I love about pop music; don't know why I didn't make a point of getting into them sooner.

Too Little Too Late…
…by the Hopelessly Tardy.

OK, I gotta admit that I LOVE the "Slipnutz".

…will always prefer Letterman.

I'll take an EP.

Hooray for The Avett Brothers!
Finding out they have a new one available has made my day…I loved loved LOVED Emotionalism.

Yeah…I'm mystified as to why the Beef!Beef!Beef bologna! song didn't become a smash hit.

Good call on Pink Moon, Noel.

what about…?
Summer Camp Nightmare?

this week's entry totally rules
I'm thoroughly enjoying this feature, and this week was one of my favorites, because:

Farrar and other stuff
So much to comment on:
