It's kind of hilarious to imagine that he thought his wife would look like a Botticelli Venus under her clothes.  But really, couldn't he just take a look at how males were depicted in art (with the Greek ideal of the tiny endowment, for example) and deduce that probably women wouldn't look like their artistic

I think this is a case where, if that's really what you think, you should probably just keep it to yourself.

That article is amazing.
My favorite was the quote "Just this strong, strong, social condemnation of men standing up for themselves."
Yeah.  Men standing up for themselves is definitely strongly condemned in every movie I've ever seen.

That's definitely a fair point, it goes back a long way and it's certainly nothing new.  But I do feel like porn has made it worse by presenting a picture of what a woman's body is "supposed" to look like.  And the fact that guys get used to that picture (usually) years and years before they see an actual naked woman

I love you, Llama.

I was a little surprised when I watched the preview - they kept showing the dad and he seemed pretty chill about the whole thing, which was a bit creepy.  My dad would never have allowed me to be filmed like that, and he wasn't even all that protective.  Definitely not comfortable with the ethics of filming a girl

Good point - I don't know if it's worse, but it's definitely bad in a different way.  The thought of young girls having their sexuality shaped by that fucked up series makes me sick.  Of course, I read some pretty fucked up novels when I was a preteen, and I guess I turned out mostly alright, so…  here's hoping?

Exactly.  How many times does a person who's even slightly critical of porn have to scream "I'm against censorship" before people listen?  The women in the interview are saying over and over that they're not anti-porn, they just want to take a critical look at how it's affecting younger people.  No one is advocating

The men's rights movement is so bizarre.  Part of me just can't believe it's not an elaborate prank.

It's so interesting that a good portion of the most horrible dudes I've ever met won't shut up about how "nice" they are, while the truly decent people I know rarely bring it up.

I agree, that would be complete bullshit.  I really hope that doesn't happen.

Quentin is definitely a jerk, but I feel like the books do acknowledge that and smack him around pretty well for it.

Everyone seems to hate Frodo.  I dunno, I always really liked him.  Sure, he's a standard pretty standard martyr-type character, but he's very easy to sympathize with, and I think as an audience surogate he gives a really good sense of how huge and dangerous that world is.

Fuck, I hate Riley.  Why did you mention Riley?  Ugh.

Aren't Jedi supposed to be celibate?  Or is it just that they can't form attachments, but can presumably have emotionless NSA sex with anyone they like?  The movies didn't make that clear, and I always wondered (but not enough to google it).

The most confusing thing about Goof Troop was that Max must have had a mom at some point, so Goofy must have found a lady dog to sex up.  That is just not acceptable to me.

Even as a really young kid I thought that Rabbit got a bad deal.  He's just trying to live his life in peace, and Tigger comes along, like, every single day and wrecks his shit.  And what we're supposed to take from this is that Tigger is a funloving force of nature and Rabbit is an uptight square.  But when you think

A lot of webcomics are really good though!
Have you read The Meek?  Or Deliah Dirk?  Or Sailor Twain?  It's pretty astonishing that work of that quality is available online for free.

Yeah, Mr Bennett has a lot of funny lines and is one of the more entertaining characters, but he's not a very admirable person.
The book makes it pretty clear that he married his wife based on good looks alone, then when he realized he'd made a mistake he retreated to his study to pout for the next 20 years,
