Agreed - it's gotten pretty ridiculous.  It's at the point where you can't even tell who's supposed to be attractive in the context of the show, because everyone's so beautiful.  You have to wait for another character to say "wow, he/she's gorgeous" and then make a mental note about "okay, Craig/Sally/whoever's

The first part of your comment, I was all "yeah!  that sounds fun!".  But then the second part I was like "Bwwuuuh??".

I'm excited to try out Comics are Great - I love comics, I love podcasts, but podcasts about comics… ugh.  There are a couple I've found that are really good, but most of them are barely listenable.
If anyone's interested, Inkstuds does great interviews with artists and writers of (mostly) indie and art comics.  Good

I don't know if Prophet is something I'd be into, but I'm really loving that cover art up there.  I wish more covers had a stylish, "comic booky" feel like this, instead of looking like some over-rendered, shiny piece of shit that someone's Wacom tablet coughed up.

I noticed that too.  Really odd art choice - but then, as soon as you start drawing guys in superhero suits (which are, let's face it, basically unitards), you start to realize that there's really no good way to draw crotches.

Oh yeah, that makes sense.  Kinda glad that one didn't make it in to the popular lexicon(a la "booty") though.

I admit that the words "shlong-y speedo" induced me to watch the MC Hammer video.  Not sure it was a wise choice…  That's definitely too much thrusting to be doing while wearing nothing but a zebra-striped banana hammock.  Also, I'm confused about the chorus: I get that Mr. Hammer likes to see a lady wearing pumps,

I think Jim Woodring's "Congress of the Animals" deserves to be on here - that book is so weird and great.
And since foreign comics that are just now making it to North America are included, I'd say Shimura Takako's "Wandering Son" should be on here as well.

Agree 100%, that book is amazing - I can't imagine why they didn't include it.

What is "Last Christmas" about, do you figure?  To me, it sounds like the narrator had a one night stand on Christmas, but then the next day the girl (guy?) cut him loose.  Then the next year they attend the same Christams party and the girl doesn't even remember the guy she slept with the previous year.  I'm

My association with that song is from when I was working retail at a mall several years ago, and a lady totally freaked out at me for saying "happy holidays" instead of "merry christmas".  I believe her exact words were "HOLIDAYS?  Are you kidding me???  It's called CHRISTMAS, why are you scared to SAY it?!!"

I always thought that song was weirdly mean-spirited for a christmas classic.  Especially the part about grandpa "taking it so well".  Maybe I'm oversensitive, but it doesn't exactly fill me with holiday cheer.

Well, I live in Canada, so our candies use real sugar, no corn syrup.  I admit I base my knowledge of British candies on a couple of British candy shops in my town, which are full of nasty hard candies and huge blocks of petrified toffee.  Based on these comments, I'm willing to give the Brits another shot at my sweet

They're all Jesuses!!!

Oh great.  Like British candies weren't unappetizing enough already.

It's weird how I remember that. Did they ever explain why?

Holy crap!  That can't be true.  It's too beautiful.

I always thought Welters sounded pretty cool.  Something about the element squares spread out over a big field is really appealing to me. The description of it is vague, but Grossman does a good job implying that the rules are crazily arcane and esoteric.

Is that the series where everyone on the planet is naked all the time?  I read it at a very young age, so that part really stuck with me, though I can't remember a single other thing about the books…

I'm sad I can only 'like' this comment once. Thank you, wolfman.
