I agree that this is a dumb thing.
I agree that this is a dumb thing.
I don't think she wants to get fired. I think the character has evolved from a self-doubting fuckup to a narcissistic, aggrandizing asshole, daring the world to challenge her. It's a horrific portrayal of entitlement and I am eagerly hoping she gets her ass handed to her by her job, her boyfriend and her friends.
Hannah is a completely self absorbed, entitled bully.
Totally agree. The fact that she wasn't fired is completely ridiculous. And the fact that Lena Dunham, in the commentary, told us that she would dump any boyfriend who objected to her flashing her vagina to anyone she wanted, is astonishing.
Did you watch the commentary after the episode? That's not how she put it.
Hannah has gone from self absorbed fuck up who usually only hurts herself to a boundary-less psychopath.
"The caller bravely shares intimate details of her experiences with
homelessness, web-cam pornography, and everything she has continued to
do to fight for her dreams. Her story is heartbreaking, yet glimmering
with hope, making for an emotional ride as they discuss what it is to
truly live and breathe for your art, no…

You seem really passionate about this made-up person.
Of course people in blighted neighborhoods resent being told - and shown - they live in blighted neighborhoods. We all try to do the best we can where we are, but the sad reality is decades of US urban planning policies have made it impossible for any of these neighborhoods to thrive for the low income people living…
I never said I would reciprocate. Ew.
This movie was a delight. Thank you Paul Reubens!
Dude, you can rub my feet any time of the day. My wife won't touch them!
This was an absolutely delightful movie. We were giggling and laughing the whole way through. What a welcome flashback to all the hours we spent in college watching Pee-wee's Playhouse and the movies.
Yeah, this is intolerable. Even the largest injection of medical grade irony won't make me finish this track.
In '87 the punk/goth/metal chick who was music director at our college
radio station took me to see a band she was super excited about playing
at a club in Poughkeepsie NY. That band was Guns n Roses, before they
broke. Lots of punk/metal/goth kids at the show. There was an intersection there, then, before they got…
FTW.
I never watch or read anything more than once, except for this book. I was there at a lot of shows for a lot of those bands and it was every bit as creative, independent, crazy, difficult and audacious as described. The best decade of my life, musically, politically and socially.
No one does Bob Mould songs like Bob Mould. For better or worse, I love the guy but he can get pretty samey sounding. There are always a few gems on each release. Looking forward to seeing him this spring.
I listened to the advance copy of the new Violent Femmes. The old Femmes combined innocence and deviance in new and exciting
ways. Their songs were passionate, silly, often unhinged. These Femmes
are an echo, stripped of menace; childish instead of juvenile. The fangs
have been pulled. This release is pedestrian, with…
