I'll admit I thought that the muzak Tears For Fears was nicely used, and I thought using "99 Luftballons" was a decent idea - it's pretty literal considering it's about nuclear paranoia, but it's also not a song I can remember being used in a movie with the same themes.

…not to mention the fact that they've made it almost impossible for a human to take down a vampire at this point. We're a long way from those dudes surprising Bill with silver chains to get at his blood in the first season.

I haven't watched since season 3, but it always felt like the fundamental problem with this show is that it bought into the same bullshit they were trying to satirize (effectively neutering any attempt at satire.) From reading the comments on here it looks like the satire became non-existent as some point.

I feel like this will end up with Terry having some dark shit in his past but still coming through it as a good person - I agree that I would hate to lose the one 100% "good" character on the show (actually, I guess you could make a case for Alcide as a moral character too, albeit a much less gentle one.) Terry is my

I'm curious to see how much Russel actually plays a part in season 5 since Denis O'Hare is going to be on "American Horror Story" - I'm sure he can do both, but I doubt he's going to be as major a cast member as he was last season.

A decent cliffhanger and the scene with Eric, Bill and Nan don't really make up for the tedium that was all the relationship talk in this episode - the pacing was completely fucked. Leave some of it for next season instead of making every character spell out how they feel about everyone else.

The AV Club is fairly selective in terms of reviewing downloadable console titles, I'm assuming that it mostly depends on whether those DLC titles are being actively promoted (Bastion and the rest of the XBox Summer of Arcade titles, for example) as opposed to stuff like SF3 Third Strike Online that's seemingly aimed

Well, to be fair Missoni has been doing it for over 50 years. I have friends who are huge fans of Missoni and I can't say I really "get it" - I feel the same way about Paul Smith stuff with his multistripe patterns (although I do love a lot of PS stuff aside from his signature pieces.)

I agree, but if "GoT" wasn't a fairly faithful adaptation (as far as I understand, I haven't read the books) it would more than likely have the same problem. The "True Blood" cast has gotten ridiculous, especially considering there are probably at least 10 more cast members who don't get main billing but are in every

In my eyes, this season is clicking better than anything since the first year. It appears that the writers have finally learned how to properly parcel out plots, instead of episodes where way too much happens or nothing moves forward. This one slowed the pace down a little, but I'm glad we didn't have to sit through

Oops, that was definitely an oversight on my part - guess that's what I get for reading in the bathroom. I'm curious how much a typical season 2 episode costs to make, considering Louis CK seems to be doing everything but the actual filming now.

Weren't the Bay movies also part of some sort of deal that gave Criterion the rights to other films from Disney's various subsidiaries? That kind of wheeling and dealing seems fairly common for them. And, as alluded to above (and as explained every time someone asks them why they've released movies like that) the big

The interesting thing to me is that FX's general comedy philosophy is that if it's cheap to make they'll give it a chance. In the New York Magazine piece on Louis CK he said FX straight up cut him a check for $250K for the first season, which covered everything (including his salary.) What I don't get is that pretty

Hunsweasel, even the positive reviews of the "AHS" pilot that I've read have said it's very over-the-top and campy in places. I'm looking forward to it, but the fact that it's a show from Ryan Murphy that's apparently designed to have a different cast every season probably means we're in for a compelling first season

I don't read comics that much anymore, but as someone who finds gratuitous T&A annoying 99% of the time Frank Cho falls into the other 1% for me. Not saying it's not ridiculous, but it's what he was put on Earth to do. Perhaps it's that the slightly retro vibe his art has makes it feel less pervy than, say, your usual

Glad to see so much love for "Warrior's Gate" on here, it's an amazing piece of television. Along with "Kinda" (and perhaps "Ghost Light") it feels like the most "artistic" bit of Doctor Who ever - dreamlike and contemplative, with the aforementioned weird hard(ish) sci-fi elements.

"do they still colorize all the old ones too?"

So is Zombieland 2 just not happening at this point?
Note - I don't think Zombieland 2 is something that needs to exist, but I feel like I read dozens of entertainment news stories about how it was a certainty. Of course, I'm assuming the original was so bankable because of a young cast, and all of them surely command

The New York Magazine piece on AMC from a little while back makes me think they won't really give a shit as long as the ratings hold - they basically admitted that the success of TWD was the reason they played hardball with Matthew Weiner over Mad Men's budget, and more or less said that they wouldn't have even

Frug is confusing two different issues - the case between WB and Jerome Siegel's estate that determined that DC wasn't giving WB a sweetheart deal on the rights to Superman and the claim made by the Siegel and Shuster estates that DC's rights to the character expire in 2013 (which I believe is still not 100%
