Serious question - what was the last big commercial rap album that could be called "skit-heavy?" It's funny how that image persists despite skits seemingly falling out of vogue in the last few years (not that they don't still pop up, especially on lower-tier artists' albums.)

Oddly enough, after watching 'The Lodger' I realized I've been left cold by the Moffat/Smith era. Most of the episodes have been good or better ('Vincent & The Doctor' is the only story I've outright hated, mostly because the ending was OTT audience pandering) but something just isn't working for me.

Agreed that the last 5 or 10 minutes kind of killed what was a decent hour of television. This season has been kinda bad about those last minute reveals/solutions - 'Amy's Choice' is another solid episode that's explained in the closing minutes by something the viewer has never heard of and will probably never see

The Boat That Rocked/Pirate Radio
Based on the cut down US version I would steer far away - it had so much footage cut out of it that large portions of the story made no sense AND it still managed to go on for far too long. The original 3-hour cut must have been brutal to see. I figured it would be watchable at worst

Warren Oates, are you arguing that 'Point Break' can't be a cult film because it's not horror or sci-fi? Didn't this series start off with 'Miami Blues,' a hard-boiled crime film? Crime films are a genre too, even if "genre" has become shorthand for horror/sci-fi. If anything, I'd say pass on 'Point Break' for the

The (Season? Series?) Finale
Starz has already put it up in various places (it's been airing on the DirecTV 101 channel and a few friends have told me it'son On Demand already) and I'll obviously refrain from spoilers but it's a pretty satisfying conclusion to the series. The one thing I'll give away (SPOILER ALERT)

BBCA has committed to run every episode uncut on first airing, and that's good enough for me to just wait the two weeks (especially since I have a DVR and can keep the entire season on there until the DVDs come out).

Are you trying to argue that Smith's films are politically progressive? Outside of 'Dogma' (which is such a mess that I have no clue what I was supposed to take from it) the only film of Smith's I'd remotely consider "political" is 'Chasing Amy,' and that one is pretty wrongheaded (although I think Smith's heart was

My least favorite thing about Kevin Smith
is the dumb self-deprecating attitude he puts on whenever somebody doesn't agree with him. Someone on another site (wish I could remember which one) once summed it up as "You don't like my movies? Well, neither do I so fuck you." I understand how hard it is to take criticism

In all fairness I think that FX has given 'Archer' a decent shot, I see a decent number of ads for it while watching other stuff on FX and they rerun it pretty regularly. Based on the FX site it looks like they're not showing a new episode next week and are showing 4 older episodes instead.

I've seen an Adult Swim bumper about 'The Simpsons' that had that same text, but I haven't seen one about 'Archer.'

This show…
"Everyone started having awful things happen to them for no real reason" is the best way to sum it all up. It's like the people behind the show never realized there's a difference between having (occasionally) unlikeable characters and having contempt for everything on the show. You can't just will

Scagneti, 'My Name Is Earl' and 'Medium' were both early Leno casualties that more than likely would have been renewed if NBC had those extra 5 hours of programming. Both were axed primarily because they weren't in-house productions and if your network is tanking you might as well pick the shows that stand to make you

Hardware
…I believe this was pushed back to 10/13, at least according to Amazon. I've been looking forward to it for years, so what's two more weeks?

This season
It's a pretty uninspiring lineup, but then it always is - I love the show and hope it continues for a long time, but there are usually only 2 or 3 shows I care about seeing. I guess Them Crooked Vultures is kind of exciting, assuming they don't end up being terrible

They're on two-sided "flipper" discs.

I've got to give Rabin a lot of credit - this is the first MYOF entry that I hadn't even heard of, and considering how long I worked at a video store that's pretty damn impressive.

Definitely agreed - I'm a huge Doctor Who fan but the first two seasons of Torchwood did nothing for me. The show just reeked of Russell T Davies trying too hard to be "adult" by having all the characters be sex-obsessed bisexuals - a bit odd considering how well-written his Queer As Folk was. Children of Earth is a

I believe anyone who buys the channel (and that's been about a hundred companies at this point) is contractually obligated to air The 700 Club. I can only imagine how angry that makes ABC/Disney.

I found it interesting that in his AV Club interview Grillo-Marxuach seemed much more gracious than most creators of canceled shows. Obviously I'm sure part of that is not wanting to burn bridges, but he appears to be really happy that they at least gave him a chance to make his show.
