My only real problem with RTD's writing is his series finales - the end of S1 was great despite the deus-ex-machina, but every season since then has basically relied on the same kind of story (with the same kind of resolution through something the audience has never heard of before), just with more monsters/danger

Yeah, I hope Scholastic already has one of these in the can if they're hoping to start publishing this fall (which is right around the corner) and have all 3 out by next summer. I suppose taking the scripts out of his hands might speed the process up.

I don't think the ending is as much hypocrisy as it is Gordon showing that no one is above that type of behavior - kind of reminds me of the very end of 'Re-Animator' where the "hero" Dan breaks down and becomes just as bad as Herbert West by using the serum. Obviously 'Re-Animator' would be a logical pick for this

Really glad to see 'Stuck' is making the cut, it's a shame that apparently no one saw it. I chalk that up to people still seeing Stuart Gordon as the guy who makes absurdly gory films instead of the guy who makes absurdly dark comedies that generally feature a lot of gore.

Throat Sprockets
It's really a shame that the comic version of Throat Sprockets was left uncompleted, although the novel is excellent. Lucas' comments on Bissette pushing him to rewrite it as a novel really back up the "midwife" comments in the interview.

Oddly enough, 'Takeover' was also aimed at Mobb Deep, who ended up signing to G-Unit a few years later.

Agreed that Rhys Darby (and Kristen Schaal to a lesser extent) was shafted, especially since Jemaine got a nod.

'Gossip Girl' is also based on a popular series of YA novels, although I have no clue how divergent the show is in relation to the books.

Also, Pepsi Free will live on forever due to being immortalized in an incredibly dated joke in 'Back To The Future.'

I believe Vanilla Coke is now a seasonal product, which makes sense considering the novelty appeal is really all it's got going for it.

"As far as this deal with Target goes, you might want to look at the facts. They're releasing the record without a label, and on top of that, there are many more aspects to the deal that WILL allow the record to be sold at independent stores along with a few other outlets. I'm sure that in their hearts, PJ would love

"Bands always sound like crap on talk shows, for some reason. Probably has something to do with the acoustics of the room or something."

That said, I understand they wanted people to tune back in the fall but it seemed like they gave away most of the plot points in the little teaser at the end.

Ryan Murphy
I didn't realize this was a Ryan Murphy production until the opening credits, but visually speaking he really brought Nip/Tuck's signature "look" to this show. I agree that it's one of the best pilots I've seen in a long time, if just because it was so polished - it definitely stands out from almost any

If I understand correctly, Fox is going to air the final 6 episodes of KOTH in the fall leading up to the premier of The Cleveland Show, and there will be a proper series finale at the end.

Agreed, as recent action films go it was one of the most entertaining I've seen in a while.

Why is dude advertising for Louis Vuitton sneakers when Nike gave him his own shoe?

It continues to sink (although I guess it may have leveled off), but it's still one of the biggest "hits" NBC has going in their dire state.

Heroes and direct comic influences
So it seems like Vol. 5 will just be cribbing from popular comics of the last 10 years? The Nathan/Sylar switch seems to be heavily influenced by DC's 'Identity Crisis,' and Nikki/whatever her name is seems to have developed a secondary mutation, ala Grant Morrison's 'New X-Men' run.

"Disco Week" is a bummer for me because I can already make a list of songs that people will sing - Bee Gees, Donna Summer, "I Will Survive," etc. There are tons of great disco tracks, but it's kind of amazing that 99% of them are way too obscure to end up on 'Idol.' I'm sure Adam will do some sort of nu-metal version
