Welles was also fairly satisfied with the original cut of it, and he even appreciated how the studio-sanctioned cut of THE LADY FROM SHANGHAI made the audience put more work into deducing its meaning (although he did hate the music over the funhouse sequence).

The original cut of Ridley Scott's LEGEND is a huge improvement, and I'm really curious about the 4-hour version of 1492: CONQUEST OF PARADISE.
