I'm really only into the Romanov's early work. By WWI, they had totally sold out.

Poor people of Vietnam getting tricked into going to a Bob Dylan circa 2011 concert. He's horrendous live nowadays.

I read this article then talked to my girlfriend about this exact argument, before I ever even saw these comments. I like R.E.M. I really do. Songs like "Pretty Persuasion", "(Don't Go Back To) Rockville", "Finest Worksong", "Radio Free Europe", "Night Swimming", and "Losing My Religion" are great. However, I just

Post-hardcore makes as much sense as post-punk. Just like post-punk bands in the late 70's and early 80's took punk in an artier, more cerebral direction, bands like Fugazi, Quicksand, Jawbox and Refused that grew out of 80's hardcore took things into an artsier direction.

Cue grindcore band named Nazi Sausage in 3, 2, 1…

It's not just you. The Vines have no place in a conversation about the Strokes, the White Stripes and the Black Keys.

No one's going to call out damagedj for this?:

A lot of these albums do have a specific sound that was achieved through recording in these spaces. The Bon Iver album feels very intimate and cold. The Basement Tapes feel tossed off and laid back in a way that a formal setting wouldn't allow. Exit Music (For A Film) or the My Morning Jacket albums wouldn't sound

This is probably the funniest thread I've ever read on the AV Club. It starts with Binky's hysterical musing on Naked Mick Jagger then morphs into an equally awesome musing on how best to dominate at Monopoly, punctuated by Binky's hysterical beautiful moment. Oh man…I'm laughing so hard right now.

Sick Of It All's probably not tough guy (which is probably why I still like them), but they're right on the border of it. My problem with tough guy is the mentality as much as the music itself. The macho, fighting-obsessed jock culture to me is just the total antithesis of what punk rock is about. It's one thing to

Ugh.

Chris Colohan never forget. All of that dudes bands were killer. Left For Dead, the Swarm, Ruination and Cursed were all important bands for me in my development as a hardcore fan. Cursed is still one of my all-time favorite live bands.

Good Lord, 25 Ta Life. One of the most unintentionally hilarious bands of all time. I love hardcore, but there's a strong possibility that my least favorite type of music in any genre I'm aware of is tough-guy hardcore. 25 Ta Life, Madball, Terror, E-Town Concrete, Hatebreed, Sworn Enemy…worst shit ever. Unless

That Lemuria song makes me nostalgic for my college days. That's the kind of stuff I and definitely my ex-girlfriend listened to. It reminds me quite a bit of the Rocking Horse Winner, which I like. Or maybe a less electronic-oriented Denali.

Cave In was my favorite band for a good 4 years or so in college. Until Your Heart Stops and Jupiter are both phenomenal albums. I'm even a big fan of the later stuff like the Tides of Tomorrow EP and Antenna. After they broke up, my tastes kind of changed a bit and I lost interest some. But I got a vinyl copy of

The Ruination USA shaped 10" alone gives Youth Attack a pass for me. Das Oath doesn't hurt either.

I saw them at Warped Tour once, which in retrospect is pretty bizarre.

Not only without makeup, but apparently taken with a shitty camera phone, in bed, with a bright flash. Who would look good in that situation? Besides, you can't see the best thing of all in that picture. Katy Perry's tits.

Exile, are you implying that Katy Perry's tits don't have value? Because, personally, I am thrilled with Katy Perry's tits and their frequent public appearances.

I always wanted to be in a band solely to have a song named "Sausage King of Chicago"
