Gosh, anti-women jokes are so funny. When someone tells me to get back into the kitchen, I'm like damn, you're so funny, I've never heard a joke like that before!
I do love being denigrated and then not having the ability to call someone out on it because it's just a 'joke.'

Christ, do men always have be misogynistic dicks?

That theme song always revs me up for the show (which I adore, btw).

Thanks
I just want to randomly register my appreciation for this column, Nathan. I've already learned a hell of a lot about a genre of music that I've been meaning to get into for awhile.

God, Brokeback.
I tend to forget what a heartbreaking movie it is with all the spoofs and jokes made about it.

My great aunt cried when she brought my brothers and I to watch Free Willy 2 in the cinema. Being the insensitive little berks we were, we laughed at her for it.

Stupidly, I've cried really hard when Sean-Connery-The-Dragon dies at the end of Dragonheart. Balto also made me cry (no idea why, can barely remember what happened in that film).
On average, TV shows make me a lot more sad. The ends of S1 and S2 of Supernatural were particularly heartbreaking for me.

It boils my blood when people still think Nietzsche = Nazis. It's just such an incredible misinterpretation of his philosophy. If he had lived during that era he would have found them abhorrent (also, he's not at all anti-semitic, in fact he constantly praises the Jewish people).
Maybe you were being ironic or whatever

randomly randomly

I discovered philosophy when I randomly found Sophie's World randomly stuffed into my mum's bookcase. This lead to a long obsession that eventually led me to get my degree in philosophy (and now I wish I'd done something *slightly* more practical)

Can you tell where my parents are from?
They introduced me to (generally) fantastic British comedy: The Young Ones, Keeping Up Appearances, Father Ted (yes, I know, it's Irish), Fawlty Towers, Yes Minister, Only Fools and Horses, Absolutely Fabulous, Red Dwarf, The Vicar of Dibley, Blackadder, One Foot in the Grave

Finally
Finally I reason to use my 15yrs of french education.

X files
The opening credits of the X-Files used to freak me out when I like 7. The spooky music, the weird ghost thing, the finger prints. Luckily I got over it, and have loved the X-Files (at least most the seasons) ever since.

I found ET more disgusting than disturbing. Just thinking about him makes me want to puke.

TomWaits and MPBC: bullshit FTW

I didn't know about Flann O'Brien until I actually lived in Ireland for a year. I definitely agree with the recommendation - the 3rd Policeman is amazing.

It's nice when things stir up conversation about 'deeper' topics but it's true, popular philosophy usually is pretty dull or obvious.
