I noticed Summers was getting the tins out of there as soon as they were tried. Was that edit after the handshakes so he could take a quick Purell break? All said & done, this doesn't seem like as much of an OCD nightmare as watching people pick a giant nose, but it seems like it could have been a bit more of a task

I heard a legend at one point that Cowell owns the publication rights of Hallelujah (& maybe more of the Cohen catalog,) & Hallelujah makes him $100k a day.

Just saying, I voted the Stein/Honkala ticket too, so there's 3 of us.

Gottacook above mentions a still from that scene being shot for Annie Hall (Anhedonia?), which I need to find.
Deconstructing Harry is another one where I've always read strange claims about where this-or-that bit was supposed to have been.

One of the things I always thought stood out in Hollywood Ending is sleazy studio exec Treat Williams' kind of non-sequitur meeting where he talks about the studio supporting the films video releases.  It doesn't fit anything at all, and Woody openly hates video formats.  It's pretty unsubtle.

I worked as a film projectionist when they came out. The night before they opened all the other employees gathered to watch Spiderman. I snuck away & ran the new Woody for myself.

I think it's "Thank Gawd the French exist!" or I've been misquoting it all this time.

You have that phonetically unfortunate first name ending in a vowel & last name starting in one.  Not envious.

I like these segments, and I'm always glad to see them, but you're going to have to figure out how to mike them better.  With my laptop & your players volume all the way up, what people said was still pretty muffled, but the intro music & chip bag noises were loud.  Never really had that issue with the old ones that

375 reasonable discussions and no fantasy casting of Jonathan Pryce/Jim Lingk?

Are we going for a True Hollywood Stories recommendation thread here?  It's already productive for me,  I had no idea Dunne/Didion worked on Up Close & Personal, I'll be digging that & the Landis lawsuit books up.  I'd already been meaning to read Phillips, & Hit & Run, and Steven Bach's Final Cut.

"A good joke is effortless; it asks for nothing and delivers everything. A
failed joke of the Stadiem variety, in sharp contrast, calls attention
to itself and lingers for far too long, before leaving only sadness in
its wake."

I thought it was kind of a disappointment that nobody covering Cannes seemed to have seen Cruel Summer.  Has anyone?  Is he going to show it anywhere else?

I think that sums up 80s everything.  And 90s everything.  And 2000s everything.  And 2010s everything so far.  There isn't an aspect of life or culture some damn baby boomer won't tell anybody younger they missed out on, even as they still largely run society & make damn sure to keep it that way.

I thought this guy was going to have Eisnerian taste, coming up as he did from running Disney channel.  It seems like he got knifed here, as a lot of these projects weren't his.  In fairness, wasn't John Carter a Pixar pet project, at least factionally if not in label?

IRA movies are for St Pat's.

If anybody knows where the Serial Killer line of t-shirts with movie stills from the late 90s can be had they should post a link.  I've got Jackie Brown & The Professional ones worn out.  I'm not even sure how many were out there in total.
