I'm not surprised that Alexander won, but I disagree with about Dara's dessert. It look absolutely beautiful, and took a lot of balls to make. Alexander's dessert looked like a stack of flapjacks to me, but I assume that it was the flavour that wowed over the judges.
Troy had the entire competition under his thumb — and fell victim to his over-confidence. Seeing him quietly meltdown as he came to grips with orchestrating his own destruction was as ironic and affecting as reality TV gets.
What I love about this show is you actually want all the contestants to succeed, and they all do — in the sense that they get to showcase they're potential and learn from leaders in the restaurant industry.
The casting of Saturday Night Live is the by-product of many socio-economic and cultural factors.
Yes. It's actually the movie I use to introduce my non-Asian friends to Beat Takeshi movies.
God, I love this movie. I always just assumed Tarantino cribbed the aesthetic of Reservoir Dogs from Violent Cop.
@avclub-b7784c8bc13cfa7214f249fef97abfe9:disqus Yeah, it's the first two most popular things with glaring plot holes or implausible coincidences that popped in my head.
@fritzoid I like you.
Ah, fuck you for making me laugh.
"Still watching, and why would they go out of their way to kill Jesse's ladyfriend? What kind of retarded-ass criminal crew does things that accomplish nothing except bring extra attention to themselves and risk themselves being caught? Retarded-ass stereotypical L.A. gangs, that's who, but this show purports to be…
@jaunito:disqus Sorry dude. Still one of the best drama's of all time. The writing is still great. The story still manages to surprises us with out feeling unearned or cheap. The acting and direction is top notch. Even the musical cues are pretty fucking good.

Breaking Bad is extremely well-thought through. It might not be 'realistic', but it was never intended to be. It's intended to be operatic. They've foreshadowed, set up, earned and paid off almost every major development in the series.
I BOYCOTT YOU, TEARINITUP! A POX ON THEE.
Everyone — EVERYONE — has an idea for a children's book.
How did Bruce Wayne get back into Gotham with all the bridges closed down?
Based on the podcast, it sounds like writers were trying to establish that both Jesse and Walt have bottomed out. They've gone out of their way to take away everything from them in this episode to set up the finale.
@avclub-f4271fee034d31ce23c885eae52283ee:disqus Watching, reading and interpreting what the show is about and how people react to it is how I enjoy the show.
The same people on message boards that call Skylar a bitch blame Jesse for almost everything bad that has happened to Walt on the show. Here's an example from another board.
I think when the writers noticed that after five seasons that there was a legion of young, adult (mostly white) male fans still rooting for Walt, and they asked themselves why that was. They then made a very conscious decision to satirize and incorporate their 'perspective' into the show.
