twenty bucks says tony hale's playing jerome squalor from book six!!

yeah that was pretty much what i was trying to get across, i agree with you 100%. i think i'm mostly frustrated bc i know tina fey & co can do so much better than this, but really fell short because they didn't bother to know what the heck they were talking about. it's just lazy & irritating

listen, i'm saying that i literally live in the exact environment this episode's supposed to be satirizing, and this is just. not a good skewering. it's not a good parody of college culture, it's a bad parody of the idea of college culture the writers seem to have picked up from the Tumblr In Action subreddit.

true as hell. when i was watching this episode i could not stop thinking, "have these writers actually talked to anyone under 25 in the last decade…???"

i mean, i go to a liberal arts school & there's definitely parts of the culture that i dislike (even some of the things satirized in the episode!) but so few of the jokes were about, like, actual things. it was just… so far removed from any emotional reality that i wasn't even insulted as a college student & activist,

the tradeoff for kimmy schmidt's fun characters & good writing has always been that you have to put up with the really grating Middle-Aged-Comedy-Writer bad opinions & out-of-touch-ness. but… this episode was just way too much. ugh.
