Second Femme Fatale. Can't wait for the heated arguments over De Palma's merits!

It does seem like Miles is Cheng/Candle junior. Also, does anyone else think that the girl with the gun trained on Faraday in the Jughead episode is Hawking, a.k.a. his own mom? I don't get involved with the theory boards much so I don't know if this is out there. I assume it is.

Life Less Ordinary: widely maligned, but I remember liking it. I remember thinking Holly Hunter (of all people) was pretty hilarious in it.

Wow, so I tried the Jenna Von Oy google image search. I always thought she was cute but I had no idea…

Looks good. When I rearrange the comments to "newest first," I can undermine all the firsties.

The thing that makes me disagree with this post is that Rourke has been trying to do the washed-up guy comeback thing for several years. He's had decent turns I can think of (I'm thinking particularly of a movie with Eddie Furlong or something where Rourke played a transvestite prison inmate - Animal Factory? - that

Let it be writ down that I love Zodiac Motherfucker.

Great post, mom.

Sorcerer fucking rules.

I can't believe I am about to promote a Kevin Costner movie, but I always thought the reveal at the end of No Way Out - which is a very good tightly-wound 80s suspense piece throughout - is pretty unbelievably badass. Not going to spoil it here, but it ought to be added to the discussion of crazy endings.

On the definitive '80s note, I am also a HUGE fan of Manhunter, which coincidentally also stars William Peterson and which many people also seem to have not seen. Brian Cox as Hannibal Lecktor. Need I say more?

I love To Live and Die in L.A. What a perfect time capsule of a movie it is, in addition to being generally awesome. When I was a kid and my family first got a VCR, we owned 2 VHS tapes: Risky Business and To Live and Die in L.A. I watched it a few times a week. As a result, I set out on the rest of my film-watching

Nice analysis of what Whedon brought to the table… It wouldn't have occurred to me that way but you're totally right.

Demagogue, are you not familiar with this particular peculiar troll?

Just had to try your hand at a first, huh Murray?

This is just irresponsible…
Wolf Creek is fucking terrible. Unvarnished terror? Sweet Christ, Tobias, you're losing your mind.

@ idio: Your second paragraph there smacks of a long-winded way of saying "if you don't like it, you don't get it." Which, at its core, is kind of a rationalization. I would say cop-out, but I'm trying to avoid assholeism.

If Blindness
was made by any other director, it would look stupid as hell.

"Winter" by Tori Amos

Fine. You're right, actually. That ending really pissed me off. I still love the gas station scene.
