In the first line, I meant to say, 'adult-oriented cartoon show'

First of all, every adult-oriented family show since The Simpsons ends up "ripping off" the Simpsons, because in over 20 years, they've done everything! This argument is ridiculous—a few years ago, South Park did a whole 2 episodes addressing the idea that people are always going to say "Simpsons did it". The point is

I don't know who "everyone else" refers to, but I loved their Star Wars special, and can't wait for the next one.

For the record, I never want to see or hear what the real-life Harvard Professor is like, because the combination of that avatar, name and comments forms such a perfect mental image that it would totally shatter my world to have that image altered one whit.
I love you, Professor! Don't ever change!

I don't recognize..
any of the guys in the photo. Who the hell are they, and why should I hate them?
I'm perfectly willing to hate whomever you tell me, Amelie, but you must TELL ME!!!

Ah, how quickly the avclub threads degenerate into tawdriness!

@john deere Quite possibly, but with a better sense of humor about it all!

Ha! Still my favorite game, too. But, I actually didn't play until it had been out several years. I still played through it twice. It does indeed kick ass!

@kjb I agree about Kevin Spacey. While I haven't seen Beyond the Sea, I have endured ridicule for liking K-Pax!

I hate to be that girl, but…
Titanic is the first thing that comes to mind. I was the perfect demographic for it—a 15-year-old, lonely adolescent who was convinced that true love would make her life complete. I actually saw it in the theaters 3 times, and bawled like a baby at the end every time. Come to think of it,

I beg to differ
A few weeks ago I was enticed to watch this movie by the appeal of Anthony Steward Head singing. I love him, and I love musicals, but even so I didn't have very high expectations. However, I really loved it! It felt a lot like when I first watched Rocky Horror Picture Show, actually. I spent the whole

Hands down, my favorite joke of the night!

I saw Alec Baldwin for the first time in "Beetlejuice" when I was 7 years old, and I have had a huge crush on him ever since. In high school, I even had a framed picture of him next to my bed. I admit, though, if I only knew him from 30 Rock, I wouldn't find him attractive, but I know the hottie he used to be, and so

Beigest beige
So, I'm reading this article and thinking all of the comments are pretty weak and generic, but for some unknown reason "Beigest Beige" made me laugh hard. My love for that comment was cemented when she went on with the comment "someone had to wear bedazzled silly putty." Awesome!
Actually made it worth

Yay Meg!
I pretty much agree with your review this week (a first!), as I didn't find any of the shows very funny. I pretty much watch for Family Guy, so I'm just going to say my 2 cents about that. Even though I like Meg, I don't mind at all how much they pick on her—why would I? She's a *fictional* cartoon

Disappointing…
When I was in college, I suddenly found out that seemingly everyone in my age group grew up watching A Christmas Story and Goonies repeatedly, and I was supposed to have done the same. Of course, my friends made me watch them, promising they were hysterical and I would love them. No, I didn't. Even 6

Wow, I can't believe we have the opposite reactions to those 2 games! I loved Final Fantasy 8, but gave up on 9 about halfway through because I realized I hated the combat system, and didn't care for any of that characters (ok, that weird black mage dude was cool). I have only played 7, 8 and 9, so I'm probably not

I've only seen one of the listed movies, and it's Kindergarten Cop. Thanks, Mom and Dad, for raising me right!
This movie was hilarious and exciting to me as a kid. It even introduced me to one of my favorite poems, which he reads to them at naptime—"Spring Morning" by AA Milne. Anyone remember it? It ends with, "Where

Nothing to see here, folks. Move it along. (Stupid frakkin missing post!)

Cameron—King of Pandora!
OY! What a night! I never could have lasted through the whole ceremony without the witty commentary from our beloved avclub staffers. I would have liked more of ricky gervais—I think he's adorable! Anyway, really happy for Michael Haneke, Christoph Waltz & Robert Downey, Jr. Tarantino got
