I'm not jumping down your throat for liking a show that I don't care for. I love your writing! I look forward to your Slings and Arrows reviews every week, and agree with you that it's a basically perfect show. But honestly, the whole concept of the "cultural conversation" strikes me as a bit asinine. Because the

Hey, I don't watch sports and I can't relate to/engage with any aspect of this fuckin' show.

I mean, I've only seen a few episodes and frankly this show just isn't for me…but I refuse to believe that this show hasn't had a single bad episode in the entirety of its first two seasons. Even Louie had some clunkers. Given that every official critical outlet on the internet is gaga for the show, a little dissent

Wow, that's actually a pretty accurate parallel. Ironically, this site's writers HATE Eric Schaeffer (as all right thinking people should.)

People call you a troll because you keep harping on Enlightened, even in articles that never once mention the show. That's trolling.

Todd, I think you're great at what you do…but holy shit, way to overstate the cultural importance of a show that very few people actually watch.

Talking about being unable to forgive his abuser, and hating himself for not being able to forgive him is a surface level thing?

Whoa, the amazing John Darnielle episode got "the Rest?" Who cares if he doesn't talk about the Mountain Goats, that was a heavy fucking conversation.

If you're illiterate, that is.

I actually don't hate HDTGM, for as much as I rag on it. I just root for the Flop House because in comparison to HDTGM, which is a part of the L.A. Podcast scene, has a bunch of famous comedians on it, and is a part of Earwolf, the Flop House is the underdog. Always root for the underdog.

If the Castle Freak/ding dong jokes seemed confusing, the Hannah Montana episode provides context. Also, just as a warning, the episodes with the guest hosts are really hit or miss. Although sometimes they pick up big(ish) names like Al Madrigal and Wyatt Cenac.

What, no mention of State of Grace?

Julie Klausner is pretty much the last person I would ever want to hear talk about the Exorcist, or horror movies in general. Also, the word "mansplaining" is dumb. Can we not just say "condescending"?

I think this episode of the Flop House might actually be the best one they've ever done, and I say that as a fan of theirs ever since they were first mentioned on this site like two years ago. It's also probably the perfect gateway episode for people who are unfamiliar with what they do.

Wait do you NOT like Tony Wonder? I liked your post by accident. Fuck you, Tony Wonder is awesome.

Different movie. This one has Rosario Dawson drugging her rapist and watching him being anally raped by another man.

While he's in Philadelphia I will be sure to send him many cheesesteaks and roast pork sandwiches.

Same. I'm even a bit apprehensive about revisiting those first four movies because I'm worried that his current suckitude will influence my viewing of them.

Maybe he's just been grumpy lately. This was definitely a great record he unfairly shat on.

Er, holy shit, Heller. Were we listening to the same album? This might be his best since, what, The Boatman's Call?
