I think that it had to be something further in the past than just two and a half weeks. Even for a show that mocks pop culture as much as 30 Rock, I'm sure the shows have a longer lead time than that.

Earth 2 deserves to be destroyed because Vin Scully isn't doing the Dodgers games (though it was in the 5th inning and Scully only does 3 innings on the radio for home/NL West away Dodgers games right now).

NPR member stations do use PRI programming (for example, What D'Ya Know?) but that still doesn't mean they are NPR programs.

For a second I thought they were trying to sell us that Johnny loaded up Lights' gloves there (a la Margarito vs Cotto) before the fight.

I think the weird reference fit perfectly with the over-the-top promoter character.
