I could have sworn this already happened. I even did a presentation on Les Revenants for a class and talked about how I heard the American remake wasn't that good. Now I feel stupid.

These are old, and maybe they showed up on GJ,I! in 2010, but they'll forever be my favorite pop culture valentines:

You're probably right. And I'm generally a big fan of the The -insert noun- formula, just not in this case.

I always meant to go through my Simpsons disc and pinpoint the first harbinger episode that wasn't necessarily bad but foreshadows the laziness and weirdness to come, but I think you probably nailed it with Bart vs Australia. I was thinking it was that coyote one, but that's a few seasons later, I think.

Was it bitter? Or is that speculation? I have always wondered.

I remember when I first heard about the brony phenomenon but hadn't yet stumbled across pictures of stuffed animal ponies with orifices, I watched a few episodes thinking it would be a kids' cartoon with adult crossover appeal like Adventure Time, oblivious that the adult audience was primarily composed of…well, you

Yeah, I probably wouldn't go easy on Bill O'Reilly for calling someone colored, but as a political commentator and not some foreign actor, he should know better. Also, everything he says seems to be an excuse to rile people up, so I would be looking at it through that lens as well.

Just musicians. I have no idea why - maybe because I always perceive the photos of them as purposefully striking a pose or trying to look cool.

Same here. I always feel like a douche for judging a band by their name, but why do so many bands have to pick such awful names?

Is "colored" really offensive? I thought it was more just outdated and indicated that the user probably doesn't interact with black people, or possibly anyone, much.

I agree. It can definitely feel like wheel spinning at times, though I appreciate that the show at least broaches these subjects and there is something realistic about things staying in stasis for a while, despite seemingly pivotal moments.

I always wish he had spent more time coming up with some more succinct and clever. "Manic pixie dream girl" is such a fucking mouthful and now it's too late.

I prefer Girls to Broad City, but I find both worth watching.

That's a lot better than thinking high school was going to be like Saved by the Bell, which is what I thought up until I became a freshman.

I can see maybe that Banksy had a heavier hand in the Mr Brainwash phenomenon than he portrayed, but it still seems like a stretch to call it a "crock" or that Guetta was made up whole cloth.

I don't think this was a widely known song, but I heard Kelly Osbourne's One Word once and thought it was a cover of Visage's Fade to Gray.

He strikes me as one of those empty people who un-ironically talks about building their brand.

I had no idea there was a question of Exit Through the Gift Shop's veracity. Dismissing Guetta as a fake character makes me wonder how in touch the AV Club writers are with reality. A wacky person who seems to be a walking caricature with absolutely no self awareness or common sense is really not that far fetched. You

I used to work for an arthouse theater that had deals with other area theaters so we could see movies damn near anywhere for free. So I would go see anything that I was even slightly interested in. I even saw Maid in Manhattan just to see how bad it was and I would see movies like About a Boy just over and over again

I always find it unnerving because it's such a departure from her weirdo woman-child persona but also seems to mesh really well with her pretty, blonde looks, so much so that if you happened upon it while channel changing, you would mistake her for one of those women she's mocking.
