There's been major articles about it in national publications and it plays frequently in major cities. No, not every person on the street has heard about it, but anyone with the slightest interest in midnight and cult movies has heard of it and probably has seen it themselves.

The British version is better….they have a FAR superior host and a superior cast (though there's some overlap). My memory might be playing tricks on me, but I think they also had a superior audience.

Which PC era games specifically?

I think the irksome aspect isn't that you're laughing at someone, it's that a lot of people treat it as if it's some secret special cult thing, when it's actually a pretty huge phenomenon.

There's definitely a large contingent of Room-lovers who don't seek out anything themselves and just wait for the next pop culture semi-phenomenon to make its way to them, all while being very smug and self congratulatory for being into this oh-so-secret thing that everyone actually knows about.

Right? Just because someone's tastes align with yours, it doesn't mean their intensity or subtastes will align.

What if a girl's favorite Pulp album is Freaks?

This reminds me of a time that a friend saw 5 minutes of Veronica Mars while I was watching it and preceded to go into a full on rant about how awful the show was and what a brat Veronica was and how the world just fucking sucks because stuff like this is in it and completely interrupted my show and my lunch with his

I don't know…maybe it's because I'm a negative person, but I take more offense at people smugly saying "Look at me, I have such goooood taste" than people smugly saying "God, everyone else has such shitty taste."

To clarify: I'm mostly just talking about passive interests like tv shows and bands. I would be more inclined to hang out with someone who shared active interests, like a hobby, sport, or a place to visit.

It's really weird too, considering how big they were. I guess without a Wonderwall or a Song 2, they were doomed stateside.

Maybe it's because I've been surrounded by shitty hipsters and geeks most of my adult life, but I can no longer fathom meeting someone and getting excited just because they have a shared interest. If anything, I'd think I'd have to stifle a groan because it meant we had something to talk about and wouldn't be able to

Daniel Johnston is a legitimately good songwriter though, even if he's not so great as a performer.

Didn't they do some months-long blow out, constantly talking about the show ending? I think I would have to keep it off the air just to save face after that…like the person who makes a big deal about going on a diet, only to stuff cake into their mouth 2 days later.

I was extremely into Pulp in high school (in the US), and I've only met 3 or 4 Pulp fans IRL. They ranged from shitty to OK.

Not when there's Heavenly Creatures.

Back when I used to visit self harm forums, 90% of the posters had animated Placebo avatars. So if you need to find a nest of Placebo fans, there you go. Enjoy.

I always hate the people who like the stuff I like.

I'm one of the Spencer haters. The intensity of my hatred has a lot to do with the internet worship he gets, which may be unfair to Spencer as a person, because it's not like he chose how to be received. But frankly, I don't really give a shit. I resent that a college aged boy gets a lot of breaks that other players

Huh, I actually prefer the boy bands. Mostly because I think their dances are more complicated and interesting in their videos - it's akin to watching an exciting hip hop SYTYCD routine for me. Though Big Bang has become my favorite group and they don't dance that much.
