Finally visited my other LCS (in massively relative terms; one's just a few blocks away and the other is several miles off) and picked up the first four issues of John Byrne's take on the classic Star Trek episode "Assignment: Earth." Enjoyable enough (it would have made an entertaining series at the time, not least

Good luck on the date! Became an uncle Sunday, which still feels pretty wild. Coming down off a massively unwelcome midsummer cold (it came at a really bad time) but not bad otherwise; messaging a lady I sort of met at our LCS's Drink and Draw last time around and hoping to meet relatively soon. Started experimenting

This; or supremely un-self-aware co-workers. To some, you're either a malingerer or Typhoid Mary.

Thanks, Will; you can't know how much this (and this interview) meant today.

Twelve-to-thirteen mile bike ride yesterday, which was glorious but which may not have been the best idea since I now have what sounds like a bad summer cold. Still.

Wish I could upvote this more; a marvelous tribute to what sounds like a life well lived, but major sympathies and best wishes regardless. Take care, GQ.

My illness prevents me from greater effusion, but this was wonderful. Thanks, David and Will.

It's also my least favorite thing to have. Everything else I can sort of power through or find interesting things therein (fever dreams from fever, etc.) but there's not even a pyrite lining to sore throats.

It's a recognition of a necessary step; that's not nothing and it's good you found some positives therein.

"My name… is Baydool."

Noir series taking place in early 70s Memphis; I was born in Louisiana in the early 70s so it'll be interesting to see how a similar time and place is portrayed.

Thanks! :)

Happy Birthday!

Toussaint to the Breeders; awesome segue.

Making my way through S2 of iZombie (plenty of time for that tonight, I guess) and have Quarry and S4 of The Americans in wait.

Happy Birthday!

Thanks, friend; much obliged.

Perhaps thanks to overexertion on my bike ride yesterday, I came down with what feels like a nasty cold, or at least a sore throat and general weariness. Called in sick but furiously debated myself over doing so, as my best and oldest colleague is my shift partner today and I (a) didn't want to let him down, (b)

I finally checked out the much-buzzed Mexican restaurant in the town next door and lucked into Taco Tuesday; decent stuff (one beef, one chicken, one fish) that would loom a lot happier in my memory if I hadn't gotten sick immediately after (cold, not food poisoning).
