This sounds awesome (as an achievement, not a pleasant reading experience) on several levels. Not least as I'm actually seeing an AVC book review that's not only non-fiction but also history. I didn't get that drunk last night. Thanks for this, Iggy; this is great to see. It also reminds me that I need to start…
Thanks! :)
Awesome; I can probably find this at the library, too. The American Short Stories series felt like one of those early PBS attempts (like The Adams Chronicles) to try and match the British output of classic serials and costume dramas they were screening for the US at the same time. I've seen a couple of 'em (Willa…
Good comment (I've heard nice things about it; a friend's from the area) but upvoting also for your awesome username.
Mockingbird: I Can Explain: I don't generally read superhero comics, but the glowing review here of the newish Mockingbird run some months back encouraged me to give it a go. It's great—like a cheery, better-lit, present-day Velvet. Bobbi's snark is pretty consistently well-aimed and some of the visual jokes are…
Interesting to hear; I'm a Gen Xer who feels a lot of sympathy and even kinship with millennials. Part of it is that I work in the restaurant industry (with a whole lot of the latter) but part, too, is loathing the sheer tedious predictability of Gen X anti-millennial gripes. Less "hot take" than "cold pizza."

Procrastinating my ass off but having a ball doing it (and getting a lot more confident in random drawing as well as MS Paint; it still doesn't look like much but is night and day from where I started). Hoping to finish the next issue of FL in time for Wednesday or, failing that, the end of the month.
Really sorry to hear this, Shug. Heartfelt condolences; that's awful. Wishing her, you and her friends and family peace.
And that ain't nothin'.
YMMV, but I thought It actually got better as it went along; the fall of Wolsey seemed to be the turning point in that regard (Neill's last scene—and that music—still gives me goose bumps). It fudges and bruises a lot of the specific history, but it gets a lot of general ideas right; I'm not sure any other…
Also, there's a little bit of screw my co-worker in there because a check cycle is coming up on the days I'm off and she'll have to handle it.
Upvote especially for Vintage Violence. What a great album.
Huge sympathy upvote and heartfelt condolences. Really sorry to hear this.
I've been meaning to do another watch of the 2nd season of VM; I bought it over a year ago and never got around to the revisit.
Say hi to Goosio for me!
Oboes are awesome; I'm a big fan of Vaughan Williams' concerto.
