"Here's where ZMF swoops in to tell me that I'm wrong, this movie "owns," or some such bullshit."

Sweet Back
I don't know man, that first scene in Sweet Back is pretty fucked up. I'm not defending the rating system because I think it's shit, but this was 1971 and the first scene is about 5 minutes of a child having sex with an adult. I think it's an interesting movie, don't get me wrong, but there is all types of

If I remember correctly the inside sleeve of "painful" is a letter from an angry concert-goer who got a full on noise set. I've seen them twice before and haven't caught this yet, but I understand it happens from time to time.

I'm going to see them on this upcoming "spin the wheel" tour and I'm stoked

the lips
Definitely the Flaming Lips for me. I'm not even that big of a fan of the music, but I saw them about 6 years ago and was so amazed that I told my self that I would never miss a show that I had a chance to see (within reasonable driving distance) so I've seen them thrice now. Those shows are really joyful and

Hey McGimmick- don't forget the saying "you are what you pretend to be".

That helps, I guess what I was getting at was that if WB is trying to create it, and we all know that it would only work on a channel like AMC or HBO, which create their own shows, then WB would most likely only make this into a movie. Does that sound right or am I misunderstanding?

I don't know how showbizness works really, so this may be just ignorance, but since Warner Brothers is trying to get this made, does this mean that most likely it will be a movie instead of a tv show? Did they buy the rights to make the property into a movie? Or can they do anything with it? Or can somebody explain to

whoah

I've always thought that a tv series would suit this better, and now with the success of the Walking Dead that seems more likely.

No, he's right, Deerhunter is super popular right now. They're going to be on Glee and everything. I saw some obscene photos of them in a night club earlier on TMZ.

I have found some good films, in fact there are a lot of Criterion Collection films available via streaming, and the foreign collection is really, really great. But I admit that your point is correct. Overall, the selection is poor, which is why I'd like help in finding the quality films hidden amongst the trash.

Idea for feature…
Hey AV Club-
I know that a lot of staff and commenters use NetFlix Instantly, and there are a lot of random movies available among the big name films that we might already be aware of. Is there anyway that we could get an occasional column, maybe even just bi-weekly like your comics round up, that

S'all good. Hey, have a great weekend!

Pavement album cover
I wonder which one…I say this as a pavement fan, but they're all kind of shitty little messes, aren't they?

Also, while I'm mentioning music artists: Jay Reatard,

Is it just me or is this site unusually spammy today?

It would be difficult to call her performance "lively".

Yeah I saw this trailer the other day, Reynolds looks great in the role of Hal, but I found Lively distracting in all of the clips that she's in. I think she's a beautiful girl, but she seems like a really bad fit for a movie like this.
