So what was the red sparkly thing up towards the ceiling as Clara was dying (or whatever it was she did)? I'm surprised nobody commented on it. Have we seen anything like that in nu-who before? Or old-Who come to that?

yes to this - the romance stuff with Rose was pretty well-established - even to the point of her getting a doctor all to herself. And then following that up with Martha, wherein 10 pretty much acknowledged that Rose was teh only girl for him. With Amy, I agree there's been a lot of ambiguity about her feelings…

Or was it two clara's, who the locals assumed to be the same person? With one able to imitate the other, because they're synthetically linked in some way?

I know what you mean (in your original post), and I think I agree with you… I tend to take a "let it roll over me" approach to most of Doctor Who - enjoy the episodes I like, and ignore the stuff that annoys me for the most part. I really hope the Clara storyline goes somewhere interesting and new - but they've tried…

Loved the interplay when they climbed out of the window with the umbrella, and Clara figured out that he'd bought the umbrella so that she would pull the ladder down. Really smart dialog crafting.

Well, she can't be another "trap", but she's clearly fractured through time somehow… Are we going to go back to the cracks in time? They never really closed out that part of the story, did they?

This one time, at band camp, I stuck a flute…

Where did Jake put his thumb on Lady Rainicorn? You see Finn with the belly-button, and then you see Rainicorn give Jake a kiss. Or did I miss something?

Hmm. I had assumed that when Jake wished that the Lich had never, ever, ever existed, that would mean that it couldn't exist in the world that Jake created, but evidently it would just defer the Lich's creation until today + x hours (that irony thing, I guess).
