I find him to be serviceable in Hell on Wheels. His neck beard does a lot of the acting for him, though.

He's in Hell on Wheels, which isn't half bad. Common! Chief Miles O'Brien! That irritating rich English lady!

I'm sticking with #5, "Under Pressure". Freddie Mercury is fucking doing it.

I don't particularly see the appeal of Van Halen either. It was the kind of thing that seemed awesome when I was 8, but already lost its luster by the time I was 16.

Where Ben Wyatt is off is that the definition of nerd culture has shifted dramatically as it became part of the mainstream.

I vote for "It's All Gonna Break". Although there are probably dozen other Broken Social Scene songs I could choose, and "Superconnected" is awesome.

I went to one of their concerts on their first tour after McColgan's departure. Al Barr made me nauseous and I was no longer on board. It remains that way to this day.

Wow, the Young Dubliners. I haven't heard about them in ages. I saw them open for Tori Amos (that was embarrassing . . .) in 1999 or 2000.

Yeah, didn't really do it for me. I like it, but I loved Odd Blood. Fragrant World is full of solid tracks, but nothing as amazing. Glass of the Microscope is by far my favorite from that album, though.

Huh, based on the comments, I'm the only one who absolutely loves this song. Fine choice.

What happened to Skrillex Jr. there?

Dennis Reynolds would abduct, bind, rape and murder you if he heard you say such a thing.

He's also right about Rob Thomas and Sinbad in It's Always Sunny. The combination of Sinbad yelling and Rob Thomas glowering really worked.

I voted @Rappin_Jake_Sisko:disqus but have no way to phrase it so charmingly.

The Afghan Whigs reunion was almost enough to make me move back to the US. I really want to go to their New Year's Eve show in Cincy.

I thought A Visit from the Goon Squad was really good, but few books can match up to The Keep, which is one of my favorite books of the last 20 years.

I loved Telegraph Avenue. And no NW by Zadie Smith!? Come on. That book was both great and wildly ambitious.
