In an interview, the creators talked about being inspired by Giger, Clive Barker, and Guillermo del Toro.
And yet, you're the condescending one. Cute.
Screw that noise, when you can be a Killdozer instead. Thinking's for nerds.
And you wonder why your boss passes your desk, shaking his head.
I think the reason this show works, even when clunky as hell, is it's so damn earnest about it all. The creators seem to genuinely care and love this world they've cobbled together. I'm not too far in, but I haven't noticed any winking moments at the audience, or fourth wall breaking moments. It also doesn't hurt that…

He has the most adorable inner-mouth!
Only a wuss uses the 30 lives cheat code for Contra. I'm not happy unless I beat the game with an earned surplus of extra lives.
Well to be fair, I don't see Newman playing such an insanely conservative fantasy. Eastwood on the other hand…
Funny, I only consider it a good show if beer gets dumped on me.
The Spaghetti Night Incident. No one left a portion for mom. :(
A scientist makes educated guesses, whereas a fortune teller makes "predictions."
It really depresses me when I come here, see an obituary, only to find a lot of tasteless jokes from posters. There's a reason people say, "Too soon."
