Those are hardly the elements of a hack. Though I do believe movies and art can do great things when done with minimalism. I think survival stories really work well when less is said, and more is shown. In a way it helps the viewer to slip into the main character's shoes. The Naked Prey is a great example of where the

Wasteland 2 looks to be getting closer and closer to being finished. Others are in rough form, and just need polish. Others have released bundles or other things for more funding as well. I wonder if the extra funding are more for paying the staff, and for other motives. Perhaps by showing they can get X number of

Or as old as the internet. Yeah, I've noticed a lot of those crummy flashgames posing as something more on Kickstarter. There are a lot of terrible games getting funding. I recall old indie games like Forbidden Forest began more as a hobby while at work. Even the guys who formed ID Software began working on their off

And your reason for playing is an awesome one. Being creative and having fun with others is its own reward. Rock on!

With writing it's more about time. It can take a year, years, even a decade to see a novel get finished, and their is zero gurantee it'll sell. The amount a first time writer makes can be as low as 15-20k, maybe more if their is a healthy buzz and demand for it. So think of the pay-off for a novel that took 2-3 years

"Dude, cut another line of Pixie Sticks."

Some of my favorite punk and indie bands would quit their jobs to just tour and play. At the end if they were lucky they'd break even or if really lucky, make a little cash. Most tended to just get a lovely hangover, go home to find another job, record new music, and rinse and repeat. Is it the lifestyle most would

I'm curious what your take is on higher profile kickstarter funded games in the works like Wasteland 2 and Planetary Annihilation.

I really do not get the PDF stuff as a reward. I'd take something like a poster or at least something that had a bit more effort put into it.

Including this zinger about zingers!

Yikes, that sounds an awful lot like…work.

You sir, I like the way you think. Get on that project! Got a name?

So you'll be on 24 hours a day instead of 23?

Throws money.

As much as I like Kickstarter for helping those who could not get funding for projects, I really, really dislike those who are exploiting their fanbase. Some are ballsy enough to go back again and again for every little project they have, which bugs me. I think we're going to see a major backlash if enough people feel

Good point. Often in horror movies they will make things just a little off. In Ringu whenever they did a close-up of Sadako's eyes, it was from an upside down view reversed. Seeing it, you know something is wrong, but you can't quite figure it out.

ann03 are you a fan of writers from the 50's and 60's? I dig guys like Bloch, Matheson, Bradbury, and Ellison for being able to make the every day a place where the most frightening, unreal things can happen.

It's really a Cinderella story. I think the other reason Rod Serling expains what happens in the end is that Ben thinks of Jenny as an equal, and that she becomes much more than just a space captain, she becomes its queen.

I think he was being honest with his friend. He might be in hiding, but when things became very serious, he could not lie to her. I always liked that exchange because in most stories the kid would be told a lie.

That's the main problem with The Outer Limits. It was pretty much all creature feature. Not that I do not like it for that, but it did limit the kinds of stories they could tell. TZ was always stronger by being more loose with the genre it was playing with.
