Shops only close up in the small towns that only 'live' during Summer. The bigger cities like Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense etc is basically the samme all year long.
The argument for going in the Summer though, is the weather, it's very unreliable and often just cloudy and windy in the Fall, Winter and Spring.
