Yeah, Spielberg's got a really good rep when it comes to safety on his sets.(In large part because he stages things so meticulously).
  Landis, on the other hand…

oh, you ALWAYS say that when summer blockbuster season rolls around.

Only if "The Day the Clown Cried" had been shot at an ACTUAL death camp.

Spielberg tried to shut the film down after the accident, but the film was too far along, and they were legally contracted to finish. He then had to shoot his segment (which he openly admits he hacked out quickly so he could just get it over with), and washed his hands of the whole affair in disgust.
  Personally, I

Hadn't watched it since it moved to Friday (aka "much too Dr. Medula's surprise, I actually DO have a social life"); But your efforts ARE appreciated, Screw It (wait, that doesn't sound right).

YF really is more or less a remake of SOF.
It reminds me of how Uni took the script for a proposed "serious" film,  BRAIN OF FRANKENSTEIN and, with minimal changes, turned it  into ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEETS FRANKENSTEIN… a film that works because it's not so much a spoof as a monster movie with a sense of humour..

MAN, it must have really stood out in the 1950s.
It would LITERALLY been that generation's STAR WARS… and the fact it didn't do that well at the box office says a LOT about the differences between those two decades.

And here's where I establish that I'm older and nerdier than all of you.
I grew up on all the PRE- Lucas-and-Spielberg sci-fi, fantasy, and horror movies (courtesy of tv reruns, of course- I'm not quite THAT old); before STAR WARS made all this stuff mainstream, I was what was known as a Monster Kid.
  And while,

Yeah. Actually, the smartest thing Black could do is depict a young Doc still learning the ropes from his mentors, rather than the mature Doc who kind of lords it over them.
It would humanise ALL of them.
(Also: forget a cardboard romantic interest; just get his cousin Patricia in there! She'll steal that damn

It can be both, you know.
(but for the record, QUEST creator Doug Wildey totally admitted it. He even did prelim work on an unproduced SAVAGE cartoon series)

"How does he do against giant mechanical spiders?"

Fighting them, or building them?

He's got FIVE buddies, but two of them were the squabbling  comedy relief. (Fortunately, they could also kick ass, so they weren't TOO annoying)

yeah, JONNY QUEST is VERY MUCH influenced by Doc Savage.

Those Mummy movies KILLED at the box office. Why do you think they made three of them?

Modern filmgoers never go for actual, retro-style period pieces. Indiana Jones (and to a lesser degree those Mummy movies) did well at the B.O. because they were action movies that just happened to be set in the 1930s.
So if Black pushes the retro, it'll probably bomb. But if he just  makes it as kick-ass as

He once beat a polar bear to death with his fists, then tore off chunks and roasted them for dinner. (Seriously, it's in one of the books).
Does he have brass balls? EVIDENCE SUGGESTS YES.

Fun
Fact: PUPPETS WHO KILL  creator and star Dan Redican was, for a time, a full-fledged
Muppeteer (he worked on THE JIM HENSON HOUR). He was also a writer for
Kids In The Hall, and a member of legendary Canadian comedy troupe  The Frantics.

This better be a cop-buddy movie with Gamera.

I think they pretty much HAVE to push it back til fall.
The actress playing "The Mother" didn't really have to be anything special if she was, as originally planned, only going to appear briefly- she would have only had to LOOK the part.
But if they're going to build an entire SEASON around her… yeah, they'd better
