Mixon could be a genius, but there's only so much you can do playing slutty and dumb.

I always feel unjustly vindicated. "I knew they'd eventually realise this was shit, even if it took a decade or so."

Ginsberg, not Burroughs.

Woody Allen? Cormac McCarthy? Dick?

As they say, it can be two things. There's nothing wrong with liking something cool and advertising that you like it. You can wear a t-shirt of a band you like without it being an affectation.

Ahh, the Woody Allen theory. "Let's get someone else to play the Woody character who is less polarising. Someone like John Cusack that people don't think is a paedophile."

That trailer is crap. Unnecessarily dependent on the "stick it to America" approach that has served him well before. He could have done a perfectly serviceable Theorux-style doco about things that are cool overseas, and I would have watched it.

Working on the premise that your time in hell is related to the sins that got you there, my punishment will be having something very important to do, but being too drunk and stoned to get it right.

We can only hope that after Overture, Gaiman feels tempted to write more Sandman, but I won't be holding my breath.

I suspect if Blankets was released tomorrow, it would face a lot more (justifiable) criticism.

I'll forego the obvious comments about Sandman Overture being a welcome dive into a familiar pool and make a petty complaint. Williams' art may be beautiful, but I do not like the look of his Dream. Of course, my dismay is tempered by Cat Dream.

As much as I enjoyed the early issues of Wicked + Divine, I always suspected that the story would run out of steam, but I think it's getting even better.

I have Saga and East of West and the rebooted Manhattan Projects in my top 5, but there's little point having the same comics each year.

I'm a bit of fan of King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, but that name does not entice people to give them a go.

I'll tell you one thing, he's not building a playhouse for the children.

Each to their own etc, but it's been years since I was as a disappointed as I was in Currents.

I love Australian music (Royal Headache & Dick Diver are both on my list), but I don't think there's anyone "so much better".

Sleater Kinney
Dick Diver

Same with Ladyhawkes and I. I'd read in an English music magazine that said it was perhaps "the best show ever" and this was the next episode on TV. It took Ladyhawkes half a season to understand Snoop's accent.
