*Curtain opens to reveal a full band playing 40s swing hits. The sign below them reads: Judy Greer's Cans Big Band
I'm somewhat torn about "Aliens" . . . on the one hand I dislike the way Cameron adds a bug-like hierarchy to the xenomorphs and makes them easily killable with weapons. On the other hand, its a skillful and thrilling action film and one that I can watch a hundred times and never get tired of, so I generally disregard…
Yeah . . . that's fair. "Alien" is really self contained as it is, what with the womb/birth/rape/birth/death/womb cycle completed by the end which basically says all that needed to be said on the subject. "Aliens" is probably the best sequel we could have gotten since Cameron throws the sexual psychology out the…
Unsolved mystery is almost always more compelling to me. I really enjoy "Aliens" and have soft spots for "Alien 3" and "Prometheus" but there is a part of me that wishes "Alien" was the only film we got in this series.
In all of the deserved praise heaped on "Alien", perhaps the most deserved is that its one of the few times in movie history where the monster actually looks as scary as its promised to be. Giger was a brilliant, unique artist. He may be gone but no one will forget his body of work.
You're absolutely correct.
What I love about "Gojira" is the way it references the atomic destruction of Japanese cities . . . unlike a lot of movies it never feels like a cheap trick to elicit an easy emotional response from the audience. It's all done with a simple matter-of-factness that's still refreshing.
"I believe Betty is a victim of sexual abuse for sure, and possibly by a family member."

We certainly do.
“We love homosexuals and love Muslims,”
I know! Although I'm not terribly surprised. When "Crisis" was announced I thought, "Oh silly Gillian, that show's not Hannibal. Why would you be on a non-Hannibal show? It won't last . . ."
If not for the San Diego finale I'd agree with this . . . because I do like everything before it. All the stuff with the raptors is great, so everything that follows is anti-climactic. However, I can still see D'Angelo's point.
I like it . . . especially listing Satan as God's "frenemy". Maybe we use it as an opening tagline before each episode and get the guy who narrates the Too Cute episodes to say it.
Another possible tagline: "God loves you so much he'll ruin your life to prove a point."

"Wait! Homer, what did you just say?"
"The Gospel of Luke" miniseries will be a big hit . . . unfortunately, its sequel "Acts of the Apostles" will be bloated and overlong. There are too many characters and the lack of Jesus as a central character removes all thematic consistency.
