The fact that so many people are reading it as consensual sex demonstrates why articles like this need to be written.
god what a fucking fantastic show. I stopped watching around the end of the defiance arc for some inexplicable reason, but I'm so glad I found my way back
that "Shev-rahng's wahng" line made me laugh more than anything in this entire episode
Someone I loved once gave me a box full of darkness.
It took me years to understand that this, too, was a gift.
oh, and Margaret Atwood!
Carol Ann Duffy is another contemporary great. Less well known are Andrea Gibson and Warsan Shire (although Gibson's more well known for her live performances), and their work is just absolutely shattering.
Richard Siken is the guy who made me want to read poetry again after years in the post-high school wilderness, and this is my absolute favourite of his. Probably the only poem I have committed to memory, it's that important to me.
I agree, I'm 99.9% certain Sherlock's knows. He spent a lot of the conversation with Rhys looking at Joan, and there's no way he missed her shock that he called his father. If he didn't know beforehand, he does now.
And if that's the case, it gives a beautiful new potential read on the final scene, no? Sherlock being…
I would be so much more on board with Self-Righteous Moral Crusader!Mike if he actually learned anything from his failures. Breaking privilege is The Ultimate #1 No-No, Absolutely Not, Seriously Don't Ever Ever Do That rule, and I don't really get a sense that he accepts or even understands that. His breakup with Tess…

At this point I want to kiss each of the writers on the mouth because it is a joy to watch such wonderful character building (the same reason why New Girl is one of my favourite comedies at the moment).
On a completely different note, I was definitely not feeling the smooth lounge jazz track playing over the final scene - far too reminiscent of bad soft porn! For a horrified moment I was afraid it was going to turn into a 'Holmes realises his love for Watson on the eve of her departure and they consummate their…

It's probably worth noting that at the beginning of A Scandal in Bohemia, Watson refers to her as 'the late Irene Adler'. You can debate whether this means she actually died, or whether it just means that she's no longer Irene Adler and is now Irene [insert married name here], but the idea of Irene being dead isn't…
