I'm only just watching this series now, slightly ahead of the AV schedule. I'm almost 30 and I still thought Rover was pretty mind-blowing. I was expecting cheese based on first seeing the thing in the Simpsons, but they really do make Rover feel threatening.

I don't think 12 hrs would even come close! Man I love that book. I think it took me 4 months to read the first 250 or so pages and maybe 2 weeks to read the last 750.

"The film's cult audience is made up of a bunch of people who know little to nothing about cinema"

When I was little anytime I said "I'm bored" around my mother or grandmother they would have answered exactly as Betty did. It used to drive me nuts when I was young, but now that I'm all growed up I see the wisdom in it. If you're feeling bored you need more hobbies or need to accomplish something. Like, the world is

what's the difference, YOU'RE their number one seller!

I'd say Betty definitely had a brief flash of rage in her eyes when Don told her the baby was a boy. In my opinion, January Jones really nailed the look, I had an ex who would flash the same look when she didn't get what she wanted. It almost makes me afraid of Betty.

because bad is good and good is bad, right boss? right?

Much Music - Canadian MTV - did something similar with text messages in the late 90s. People had to pay something like 50 cents to post a message that scrolled across the bottom of the screen. Teenagers are dumb, but I'd never thought they were dumb enough to pay for a thing like that.

The hat throwdown
I have actually seen someone throw their hat to the ground in frustration (in real life!) a couple of times. The next rage-a-hol level after that is to stomp on the hat.

my favourite was sweating all the time, always just sweating away. Right through my tshirts. I was worried I'd be like that my whole life. Luckily it stopped when I was around 18-19.

Hey Russell!

The research lab with infinite funding
How about when chemistry/research labs are depicted as spotless, slick, and full of brand new equipment. The best example off the top of my head is from Bon Cop Bad Cop where the forensics lab is moodily lit and has colourful liquids in beakers bubbling away.

I have no particular problem with jack white's fedora (it's really more of a trilby isn't it?). The Edge's ski cap is slightly silly. I'm surprised that a man as into archaic things as Jack White is wouldn't remove his hat indoors as a gentleman should.

I love playing in rock bands and I also love playing Rock Band. All these people that are all like "blah blah Guitar Hero is a waste of time, pick up a real guitar blah blah" are boooooooring.

08 Classic, honeyburst. Yeah yeah the LP snobs might call the later model Classics the 'poor man's LP' … but ….

you didn't even spell 'right', right.

ahhh PM5K, one of the best bands to appear live at the Peach Pit!

Gee Jay: or should i say Madame Psychosis? :D

since my screen name here is from that particular book I suppose I'm obligated to make some kind of IJ reference …

Dreamer
The track called "Dreamer" on this album gave my spine a shiver, very beautiful. Not sure about the rest of the album, it has yet to really reach out and grab me.
