Man I could not disagree more - I've found Spontanenation awesome and hilarious so far. I've even enjoyed guests whose presence I haven't particularly enjoyed elsewhere. I don't see what the fuss is over Superego though - I guess it's just not my flavour.
I only know Kumail from that back-and-forth he had with Marc Maron on Doug Loves Movies (and perhaps also from a CBB ep?), but that was hilarious. Can't wait to hear his stand-up.
Gotta say I'm pretty surprised by the amount of hate for Maron on here. I think all of his stand-up is funny as fuck, and his (free) podcast is consistently awesome.
Redban used to annoy the piss out of me, as I imagine he does to many. But recently I've come around on the guy a bit. He occasionally says hilarious shit and when he doesn't you always get an "Oh, Brian" out of Joe which I always find funny.
I feel the opposite way - I find DT to be hilarious and genuine, and his voice cracks me up. It probably helps that I share their views on shrooms and weed though. That aside, how can you not be fascinated by theories of the workings of the universe? Each to their own I guess.
In my opinion, his best are:
Breaking Bad Podcast
Covers all of season 2 and 3 and is pretty lean yet informative
Yeah I wish Maron had dropped that whole thing and instead exchanged stand-up stories with Rogan, or chatted about the craft of it.
A list of podcasts I enjoy that haveen't been mentioned yet (probably)
Breaking bad insider
Freakonomics Radio
Idle Thumbs (discontinued video gaming podcast, pretty funny)
IGN UK (games, movies, British accents)
NPR's Planet Money
On The Media (probably only because I'm a journo)
Second vote for The Joe Rogan Experience right here - it's awesome
Here's a wee website that translates any apple iTunes podcast page into an RSS feed, which you can then open using whatever you like (that is, any podcatcher or RSS feed software such as Google Reader or Mediamonkey).
Nah
I disagree with the B+, this game is a C- at most for me. The camera is horrible, the combat is repetitive, and it's full of annoying Quick Time Events. There are limited enemies, and you fight most of the bosses three or more times. Even the controls are a bit shonky. Oh, and after the QTE's the game is…
You're welcome!
Thanks PP, I'll definitely check that site out. And to prove I'm a double-pussy (I too use RSS feeds), the link below is for a tool that creates RSS feeds if none are on offer. Works well on some sites and mangles others, but might be worth a try :)
Keen for hard rock and some wussier stuff generally
I'd love a bit more hard rock coverage, simply 'cos I can't find decent, intelligent hard rock or mainstream metal reviews anywhere (any suggestions?) and while being a fan of most things you recommend musically, the vocals - be they black, doom, or just generally…
Cool - thanks all for the suggestions. I shall start with Amber and progress from there. Will check out that Four Tet collab too, cheers Jenkins.
Where to begin?
I'm intruiged by these dudes but am utterly new to them - what would be the best album of theirs to listen to first? And are they anything like Burial? 'Cos that would be pretty sweet.
