Well, Obama is a mainstream Democrat, so he's quite neoliberal and his impulse seemed to be toward interventionism.

It's not just the sentence, and more the structure of the Alliance. Other than the crises we see on-screen, what does the Alliance do or stand for? It's not a mutual defense pact, or an alliance against an enemy. Vague Declaration Of Principles aside, it's not a specifically ideological alliance. The member state…
I wrote about this in the last review.
Ratings appear to be down a bit, but given that it's airing in the heart of summer I'd imagine that's expected
there's been that narrative around this show since its pilot and I don't really understand why. Like some people seem to believe that because it *could* possibly be complicated with all this stuff, it *must* be, and therefore it's unwatchable?
Inevitable, sure, but also still annoying.
I just hate the "common man" fetish in political discourse. Like when Hillary "came back" in '08 for having a shot-and-a-beer in a local bar. For fuck's sake.
I thought this was something that was generally understood by fans, actually, which is part of why I didn't mention it.
And then it goes right back to endorsing them….
I didn't even remember it, if I ever knew.
I'd kinda wanted to get into how Very Long Night *doesn't* really go into the relationship. If they wanted a half-flashback episode it might have worked even better, but instead we get Sheridan and Delenn playing costume party and a Lennier b-plot that goes on about twice as long as it needs to.
The Alliance is a neoliberal wet dream after all, and neoliberals prefer "flexibility" to unions.
but why "create" a neutral headquarters when they HAVE a neutral headquarters that worked for the biggest alliance in the history of the galaxy?
to be honest, I didn't remember that that was why they broke up. I agree that maybe it could have been more subtle, but the reminder was helpful.
Look, if you want to post your contextless link and be ignored once, that's fine, but it's really inappropriate to respond to every single comment with exactly the same thing every time.
also "Is there any way for me to contact this cult leader?"
Possible. But has he been mentioned on Wilfred before, or does he have a connection to Matt Damon? I suppose the show could do anything with it but it wouldn't make sense to have a disconnected reference.
the cut felt…aggressive. Like they went to it a second earlier than I'd have expected.
I haven't heard any such thing (not that I necessarily would have), and I don't want to get my hopes up, but logically it makes sense that they would bring back one of their most important characters for the final season.
That's what I'd figured too.
