Warren Ellis did a brief run of six done-in-one issues on Secret Avengers, all of which were a lot of fun. The Black Widow time-travel issue, "Encircle," was incredible.

Hello, Pork-Pie Hat!

The Jock covers are indeed incredible. What I wouldn't give for a collection of just those, with commentary and prelim sketches. (Of course, I've been waiting for the same thing for fellow Vertigo series 100 Bullets, so maybe it'll never actually happen.)

If memory serves, we've actually seen the "Now Leaving Prairie Rose" sign a few times throughout the series, but each time we did the characters would be dragged back into its orbit. Here, with nothing left there for Dash, it has a true note of finality.

If we can throw in Misty Knight, Colleen Wing and Shang-Chi, I'm in. A
street-level Avengers film could be a lot of fun. (Although my friends
and I are still holding out for a Luke Cage/Iron Fist blaxploitation film a la Black Dynamite.)

Side note: If anyone lives in L.A., it looks like this is playing at The Egyptian on the 16th.

It's funny because TCM was how I saw it, way back in 1999. Only ever saw it once, but damn if it didn't stick with me ever since. Once DVD overtook VHS, I searched for it a few times a year, but to no avail. Even wrote to TCM and Criterion to see if they were working on a DVD release.

Finally.
Finally.
A friend of mine says that one book, say, Batman, should be in continuity and all that that implies, while Detective should be out-of-continuity, Elseworlds-type stories. The former for stories that "matter" to the Bat- and DC Universes as a whole, the latter for interesting diversions from the status quo. Same goes…
