Morris Day and the Time
What about the considerably less known 777-9311 by Morris Day and the Time, they were released in the same year, though I'm not sure witch came first. Does anybody still call that number?
Hoffman & Tomei
I have to agree, that scene made me feel like I'd walked in on something out of an amateur porn site (albeit one with great production values).
Good info, also saying "1992 era Michael Jordan" is hipster enough for me, Chi-Town hipsters are really into throwback sports references right now.
For originality I have to recommend Tyrannosaurus Hives, they really find their sound on that one.
Being the AV Club's resident Hives apologist (though I agree that Black & White was poorly executed), I just want to make sure that wasn't a jab, what did you men by imitators?
Whatever happened to Will Vinton?
Meet the Raisins was huge deal to me as a kid and I loved the PJs later in life, and I guess the studio that made Coraline used to be his. Where'd he go?
Probably not, but they'll more than likely start name dropping him to sound cultured in conversations with anyone who'll listen, and listing him on their Myspace profiles under Interests or Movies or Heroes or Who I'd like to meet.
I think I had more of a connection to James and the Giant Peach too, probably because I saw it in the theatre and I saw Nightmare Before Christmas on VHS, and it was more colorful. As for Monkeybone… well, I'd at least say that some of the visuals were effective.
I like the mashups
Missy Elliot and the Clash, Snoop and the Cure, Mike Jones and Brittany Spears, he even did one with Ladysmith Black Mambazo, If it has a lot of stuff I don't have I'll pick this up just because it'll be good at parties.
I think Power Rangers is still on in some incarnation.
I saw the 3-D Muppet movie as a kid and the other one with Michael Jackson in space.
Both at Disney World, and I haven't seen a 3-D film since, but it seems to me that 3-D should be creating depth within the screen as opposed to breaking the fourth wall… wait, captain E-O or something to that effect, that was it.
I'm sure at least one person's car was blown up later that evening.
Yeah' I'd heard all about Sticky Fingers, I really thought It'd be on this list.
