I was class of '99 at Lamar, and I'd have to take issue with that. I mean the school's front doors open up on River Oaks Blvd. which is about as far from ghetto as you can get without actually being St, John's. It's a public school in the city sure, but as far as HISD goes, you could do so much worse.

It should be noted that Dirty Dozen's Funeral For A Friend album is pretty essential as a New Orleans album and a stirring document of a traditional New Orleans funeral parade. And they still rock the shit live.

Good man.

Kyle Ryan a Houston boy?
Are you really from Houston Kyle, or are you from Houston like Win Butler is from Houston?

Fuck No
great reason to NOT see a movie: protagonist described as Josh Hartnett-esque

OK, I'll give you Manuel, but Danko? Come on now.

Nobody in The Band could sing a lick besides Levon, and I sort of like that The Band hung it up before the inevitable decline.

The Last Waltz
I thought Robbie Robertson came off pretty well, as did everyone interviewed.

Dogtooth
"The difference is that Attenberg has an explanation of sorts for why its heroine is so bizarre. "

Misprint
I think you mean to say "Good Things" and not "Shine Through" in the next to last sentence. And yes, this is an excellent album.

Headline
C'mon Tobias, everyone knows the headline should have been "New Tron Bomb"

Does anyone else think…
…that this Bruce Cohen character looks an awful lot like Mr. Largo from The Simpsons?

AWWWWWWWW…
…Is this because people aren't taking Cowboys & Aliens seriously?

Filling In The Gaps
Milestones and Coltrane's Blue Train were the first two Jazz albums I ever purchased, been a huge fan of all kinds of Jazz ever since. I can't recommend Milestones highly enough, maybe not a game changer but it stacks up against any Miles album out there.

Darn That Dream is not a part of the original release, it's a tacked on bonus track from a 1971 release that somehow ended up stuck on the official track list for all subsequent releases, damn shame really.

A Wire Fan's Wet Dream
Anthony Mackie, Kerry Washington, Wendell Pierce, Jamie Hector AND Black Thought? With music by The Roots? I'll be there opening weekend.

Astros 70's Uniforms
I don't know what Epstein is talking about, those Astros uniforms were dope.

How I Got Over
When the hell is the damn new Roots album going to be released?

Lindsay Thobe?
New staff? Also, is this the Lindsay Thobe of Filmspotting fame?
