As everybody knows, unsatisfactory season finales that answer NOTHING after 12 hours are huge audience pleasers!  I'll add a question… exactly what thought process led to, "I know just what to do… find a car with the keys inside, then drive to the lake, find a random boat somewhere, and throw the egg in the water…
