Liked for the George Grosz mention.

Don't worry, you're not!

Yeah, I probably don't know a lot enough about synth-pop (or pop in general for that matter) not hearing a massive difference between this and Top 40 radio stuff. Am I missing something? It's just very sugary, generic pop to me.

Ok, I think I've finally accepted that I'm never going to like dance-pop.

@avclub-83cbc5e9ad9b537435036c2cdc4b0074:disqus  I'm a huge EVOL fan, anything with 'Shadow of a Doubt' and 'Expressway to Yr Skull' on it deserves all the praise it can get.  I think 2009 is a little generous though, maybe 1986-2000.

Is that Daniel listening to 'Damaged' a year before it came out? That's the anachronism that always comes to mind for me.

I went Daydream Nation, Goo, everything else.  I think I would've been scared off if I'd started with Confusion is Sex or something.

They should do a primer/Gateway to Geekery for Sonic Youth.  I don't need to be introduced, I just want to read it.

Liked for 40% Sonic Youth.

Late to the party but I've got:

I think I'd go with

It changes from day to day, but you can't beat the really terrifying songs on 'Rid of Me', 'Legs' or 'Rub 'til it Bleeds' are incredible.

There seems to be very little love for 'Shaking the Habitual' going around.  Maybe the ambient interlude-y thing was a bit much but I can't think of another album I've enjoyed as much this year. 'A Tooth For an Eye', 'Full of Fire' and 'Raging Lung' are all brilliant songs.

Oh God you're right… If someone would just write a vicious, needlessly vindictive, shooting fish in a barrel takedown of 'I Kissed a Girl' for HateSong, maybe I could achieve some kind of closure…

FINALLY A KATY PERRY SONG.  Honestly, I'm sure she means well.  Maybe. But WHY WON'T SHE GO AWAY!?

Oh I know (yeah, in hindsight that comment doesn't make much sense) this just diminishes my chances of seeing her live.

Well that's nice of you to say. :)

Really? (Actually didn't know they were still touring but there you go). Now I really wish I'd gone to see the Breeders while I had the chance…

I'm still in the process of figuring stuff out (being 17 and, let's be honest, a bit slow) but I've never really had a pop culture 'mentor' either. I *wanted* one really badly for years, like a cool aunt or something, but I've finally admitted it's not going to happen.

I think I'll actually be disappointed when we find out the Bob Benson story, I'm enjoying muttering 'What the fuck?' every time he pops up.
