Honestly, I really liked Stannis (especially show Stannis), but while I was disappointed in him for his actions, I wasn't surprised. I really don't see this as out of character. I think it just shows us that Stannis wasn't the person we wanted him to be (the person he, sadly, was capable of being if he were just

Deleted. Replied to the wrong post — sorry!

So your "issues with this season" are that it hasn't been a scene-by-scene translation of the books? That's . . . really tedious. I'm not saying you're wrong to feel that way (I don't feel that way, but if it's how you feel, then it's how you feel). But as a criticism it's completely pointless. It's a closed door.

Oh I like it! It just seems to serve little narrative purpose if there's no LS, and they've had to trim so much of the story that it would be weird to spend so much time with this random band of men who aren't connected to the larger narrative in any real way. I'm already disagreeing with myself, though, as the show

You don't need to put quotes around "brother." Rickon is Jon's brother. (Sorry, I have a half-brother, and I hate when people do that.)

Is Shireen at The Wall in the books, though? I thought she was back at Dragonstone.

Why would they preserve his body?

The only lingering question in my mind is what was the point of having Beric/Thoros in the show at all, if there's no LS? I guess it could have been just to establish resurrection as a thing that can happen in this world, in anticipation of another character widely expected to be brought back to life.

I don't see Selyse wanting revenge, last minute protest notwithstanding. If anyone is Clytemnestra here, it's Davos.

I disagree. Selyse has been set up as a monster. To have her break underscores how far gone Stannis is. Having her watch unmoved or in prayer or something would have left her one note. The unnatural mother is a cliche too, you know.

Oh shit. How did I never notice that?

I think (s)he posted at another site and Disquis wormholed it here.

I guess the show was smart to send Sansa to Winterfell after all, because she is the only reason I give two shits about who wins.

He set Gendry free to save him, in defiance of Stannis. I think he sees his role as saving Stannis from himself. On the other hand, I guess he couldn't exactly run off with the Princess Shireen.

I honestly barely paid attention after Shireen died. I was very upset.

That's been my impression. It's like poison ivy. I do wonder if Shireen's was contagious, though. If it was, and I were her, I'd have been rubbing my face all over some motherfucker's on the way to the pyre. Did they ever show anyone touching her face?

Yes.

I know, I know. It's hands-free, if that helps. Plus I really, really, really, really hate talking on the phone, so I don't do it that often. But I realize I'm still worse than Hitler.

Wow! I went to an all-girls' Catholic high school too (in Louisiana), and the best we ever got was Sister Helen Prejean — who was very cool, don't get me wrong, but no George Harrison!
