I understand why Avery might be disliked. She is supposed to be the female version of Jack, so she comes off as kind of a bland, less punchy "diet Jack" at times.

Very good point on "Taxman," but George also pulled off a lot of bass parts Paul never could have. See "Old Brown Shoe." I admit that Paul can sometimes have a more interesting energy than George, but in terms of technical skill? George. And I think Ringo was a better drummer than we give him credit for.

I may be willing to accept that point if you expand upon it further.

I don't believe in there being a "best Beatle," but George is definitely justified in being a favorite. He had the most instrumental talent in the band and wrote some of the best songs (Long, Long, Long is severly underrated).

Agree with Cliffy. She's manufactured to be mainstream pretty — make yourself into a faux-rebel or faux-folkster and you won't hear any complaints. I think this also fits in with how people have embraced Adele; the woman is gorgeous but less than svelte, so people find her more trustworthy and relatable.

Nah, "New York" magazine and SPIN have mentioned her on multiple occasions for a while. "Alternative intellectual media blitz" is probably more accurate, though.

Agreed on Armisen. I'm can't recall anything even halfway decent he's done, though I don't watch SNL that often. Can anyone think of a sketch to prove me wrong?

Never heard of Courtney Love? How'd he miss all of the "What Nirvana Means 20 Years Later" articles that every publication ever was forced to write this year?

George is the coolest.

I'm even feeling left out — there aren't Waffle Houses in Chicago. Boo. Thanks for nothing, online community.

Village Inn? I'm not familiar. I'm also from the Midwest. Is it some sort of pretentious liberal coastal establishment?

I thought that a bit, too, but even moreso it reminded me of the Digital Short from a bit back when Andy Samberg does coke and his cheery musical number gets progressively more bizarre.

Serious question: Who would win in a Denny's vs. iHop battle? I need to take advantage of my early twenties metabolism while I still can, but am a novice in this arena.

Mmmmm, I need a visit from Ryan Braun to show me…well, you know.

Nah, I knew what you meant :) Lisa would probably be prettier if she wasn't built like a model — The sharp planes of her face as a result of her thinness just make her look worn out. I think it was Catherine Deneuve who commented that as you age, you have to decide whether to keep your pretty face or your pretty ass.

Heh, I like "if she were younger and prettier." Hell, I could win America's Next Top Model if I were younger and prettier!

I read all of the Arthur books before the TV show came out and had a very defined opinion of what Arthur's voice sounded like. The show's Arthur voice was just so, so wrong. Shameful, even.

I agree with your first paragraph for the most part. But I don't think there's a message that girls have less discernment — I think it's more that girls are held to a higher moral standard. If boys act in a sexual and/or violent way consistent with the media they're consuming, it's not seen as a big problem. Their

Maybe capital 'J' Jazz, but I think lowercase 'j' jazz is alive and well.

You've honestly met people who follow these books as a philosophy? Honestly? I've met plenty of people who don't feel guilty about liking the books, but even then their sole use for them is entertainment — not as a life guide.
