For God's sake, there are other fairy tales, folk tales, and allegories, Create merely competent adaptations of those and plenty of people will mistake your unoriginality for some kind of sophistication! The transition from what feels like it starts out as a more River-centric story to one focusing more on the Reavers has always struck me as little too rough, though I understand why it happens. And that I likely overstate how important River is to the plot beforehand.

I'm really glad not to be the only person who thinks Serenity's plot isn't as smooth as it could be. Everyone I've talked to about it acted like I was a bit nuts for finding issues with that.
