I've seen Echo a few times over the last couple decades. They're kinda iffy depending on what shape McCulloch is in that night.

They're pretty much can't-miss live in my experience.

A friend of mine has probably seen BRMC 15 times or time. I saw them with him a few times but got to the point where I was all set.

I saw Nine Inch Nails open for Jane's Addiction on one of their reunion tours a while back. I've never been much of a NIN fan but, good lord, they were unbelievably great that night. Jane's, meanwhile, may have been better left in the "I'd really like to see them someday" section of my mind.

I saw Helium a few times and Mary a couple times solo. Somehow I've never seen any of Dean Wareham's band despite being a huge fan of Galaxie 500 and a fair enough fan of Luna.

I've seen Elvis five times dating back to the Brutal Youth tour. Never once has it been anything less than outstanding. Just a really great performer and showman.

I've seen Shane 3 times. The first time was ok, the second was one of the best shows I've ever been to, and the third was so bad that there won't be a fourth.

Because they seemed to play every free show and open for a ton of bands in Boston in the mid to late 90's, I've probably seen Letters To Cleo about a dozen times, mostly by accident. For bands I've actively gone to see, it's probably either Wilco or Neko Case. I think I'm at 9 and 8 times with them respectively.

I remember someone tweeting the major key version of Losing My Religion to Mike Mills and he seemed, at best, annoyed that it existed. I'm kinda with him on all these things.

Yeah i didn't even mention the eei morning 2 Minutes Hate because they're literally unlistenable. Toucher and Rich leave a lot to be desired but it's a no brainer to listen to then over the alternative.

I thought Old Pink was getting messages at the funny farm?

Honestly, I'd be pretty psyched to have any one of the three as my team's 1B for the next decade. I just remember Hernandez being incredible at first and the other two being excellent but a little short.

Dent wore #20 and, given the way the Sox are retiring numbers lately, they'll probably give Kevin Youkilis the honor in about 3 more years.

He was very good but I'm giving the nod to Keith Hernandez for best of the last 40 years. By a pretty wide margin.

Right. Grace was very good for quite a while but I never watched him play and thought "Now there's an all-time great!". He was kind of a latter day Steve Garvey though Garvey did win an MVP once.

No, that's Honus Wagner.

So lame. That would be like the Red Sox retiring Bucky Dent's number.

Rereading the article, I noticed that Mark Grace was referred to as a "living legend". Very good hitter but let's raise the bar just a touch on legendary status, please.

Yeah, Hack was one of those players that old reporters called "colorful" which usually translated to "severely mentally ill" and/or "fatally alcoholic". Rube Waddell was another one. The poor guy would've been institutionalized if he was born a half century later but, instead, became a baseball star but was dead at
