Helium is one of my favorite bands of the 90's. I got to see them a bunch in Boston and they were a hell of a live act. And the couple of times I met Mary, she was super nice so I'm really happy to see her bringing back this material for a new audience.

He was on Dirt of Luck, the No Guitars ep, and Magic City.

As a lifelong resident, I'll say that winters here are brutally gloomy. And when you get a spring like we just had where it rained almost every day for 2 months, you tend to lose your grip on positivity.

For my money, Sweet Oblivion by Screaming Trees is the most underrated album of the whole grunge era. That said, I really liked a bunch of Soundgarden's songs and this is a really sad loss.

Please. Vincent Schiavelli never had a crown jewel like The Ropers on his resume.

Mr. Phil

He just made the switch to Sanka. So…have a heart.

The Shaggs never played the same show twice either.

I just wish more people would throw their hands in the air and wave 'em like they just don't care.

I suddenly have visions of James Hurley playing a terrible song and Jim Belushi hopping in to provide blues harp. Spare us the horror, Lynch!

I finally have a working XBox 360 again after quite some time so I'm just playing really old stuff. Finished out Half Life 2 and the Episodes and now I'm playing through Darksiders which is often super-frustrating because the controls tend to be very wonky. Still not bad though.

I'd go with Me In Honey as another really good one by REM.

That Burma track is absolute perfection.

I really liked Sahara Hotnights' first couple albums and then more or less forgot about them. I'll have to check out their later stuff.

As does Kevin Costner. That's just depressing.

"You can't walk out on me, I'm Charles Foster Unicron!"

A world where Pitchfork curates the past is no world I want to live in. I can almost smell the overuse of biographical context.

Agreed. I guess every generation will have its overload of self-congratulation. Maybe it's just that the boomers started so early that I've lost all patience with them. I kinda look forward to hearing how the Strokes changed the world even though they were a blip in real terms.

Yeah but we've been hearing the hosannas for every classic rock album for the last 30 years. The shadow of Jann Wenner looms large.
