I saw that. My friend actually went to high school with his sister and sent the story

Muresan at least had some bulk to go with his height which helped on the low post. Bol was so slight that he could be manhandled by pretty much anyone. I met him when he first came into the NBA and it seemed impossible that someone could be both so ridiculously tall and thin.

Agreed but even guys with no real skills like Manute Bol and Georghe Muresan had use as shot blockers. What little I recall of Fingleton in college didn't even include that facet. Probably why he became an actor and not a pro player.

I remember when he came to play basketball at Holy Cross. He was….not good. But glad he was able to get acting roles with his height. Far too young to go. Rest in peace.

They weren't a hoax but the band Klaatu managed to make a number of people think they were the reunited Beatles working under the radar. The recorded output I've heard didn't do much to bolster the story but hey, the 70's.

Elaine Benes learned a tough lesson about how hard it is

The ghost of William Gaddis raises an eyebrow

It gave the world a young Jason Priestley. We should remember and revere it.

Sab Shimono could fill in in a pinch

There's no dental plan for Serial Lady Killers.

Once they went to unlimited, that was good. Before that you could really burn some money on overages while discussing Brighten The Corners.

I remember graduating college in 97 and thinking of how cool real adulthood would be. I was way the fuck off.

I've heard the cancer stuff too but a lot of it seems to be a case of him being an outspoken black athlete in Philadelphia in the 60's. By most accounts, when he went to the White Sox, the change of scenery made a huge difference in his attitude.

I haven't quit on Wilco but they did go from being one of my two or three favorite active bands to a band where I'll check out the new records but don't feel any intense feelings toward anymore. I do still really enjoy them as a live act though.

I liked Superstar Car Wash. Girl Right Next To Me is one of the best songs the Replacements never wrote.

That quote used to be used in a bumper on WFNX in Boston during the Leftover Lunch show. I miss good commercial radio.

I'm a pretty big SY fan but the one time I saw them in concert was pretty terrible. It was around NYC Ghosts and Flowers and yeah, it was just a lot of "how long can we jam on this drone?". The answer: too long.

I seemed to like every other album they did from Dirty to Rather Ripped. Not that the others were bad, they just didn't grab me as much.

That tour was great. I believe it was the last one ever with Bruce Thomas. Though the most lasting memory I have of the show was the fact that A) the Crash Test Dummies opened, B) a group of kids in front of us began moshing to the Crash Test Dummies and C) those kids left the show as soon as the Crash Test Dummies

I don't get the hate for Automatic for the People. I was an REM fan well before it came out and, to this day, I think it's a great record. They lost me around the time of Monster/New Adventures but Automatic has some truly great songs and some of Stipe's best singing.
