That matchup would cause the immediate self-immolation of many network executives so root for it!

"Especially Jimmy Page" - John Paul Jones

"He wouldn't have even been able to build the simple cross on which he met his martyrdom"

That's just one of those laws of nature. See the entire film career of Mark Wahlberg.

We can go back in time to learn the roots of Kendra's terrible accent.

Yeah, I always figured the payday on this record made up for the lack of sales on the Mats stuff. It was odd to hear people talking about how much they liked a Westerberg song at the time though. Like "Where the hell were you people 5 years ago???"

I believe this is the first album I ever purchased on cd. Then I took advantage of Columbia House to replace most of my cassettes. Now all of those discs are in boxes in my attic. Circle of life.

Yet nowhere near as weak as some of the mid-period solo stuff. I'm looking at you Suicaine Gratifaction.

World Class Fad was a pretty good song. I was always surprised it didn't break him to a bigger audience at the time. But I guess that's the way of the Mats.

And this was well over 20 years ago when teachers were still held in some esteem. Presumably this story occurs a lot more now

I was a sophomore in college so still very recently in his class.

When I worked at Toys R Us, my high school algebra teacher ended up working there as a second job leading to a really awkward conversation with him and then him not coming back for a second shift. It was really sad because he was a good guy who clearly needed more money than a Catholic school was paying.

I heard a Paula Cole song on the radio today and for the first time in many years, I remembered that I don't like Paula Cole.

Well, this sucks. And the reference to Titanic Love Affair makes me miss Jay Bennett too.

This is good news. Going through the drive-thru at restaurants was very awkward with Marvin's brains all over the backseat.

Those Nazis were so friendly that Hogan and the gang stuck around the stalag well into the early 70's. Klink was only in Gotham for a quick war crime trial.

JEFFERSONS!!!

Upon rereading this, are we to feel that Joan Baer not being inducted at the same time as Dylan is somehow a grave injustice?

Perhaps it's Boston provincialism speaking here but the J. Geils Band was a pretty great outfit in its 70's heyday. The 80's pop stuff is justifiably mocked but Blow Your Face Out and Full House are live albums that actually merit their existence.

It's what killed poor Frank Fontaine.
