It's one of those films that I probably need to see again to fully flesh out my thoughts on it. I really dug the ways in which it dove into Mark's psychology, and it presented and staged its kill scenes quite well, but Mark and Helen's relationship was so undercooked that it completely took me out of things. Maybe I'm

And since I missed the monthly movie ranking thread, I'll do that here.

It's not me!

I'm digging it. Things are starting to feel multiversal on a level that even the earlier books couldn't convey. And that's without getting into the fact that it's bound to turn into a Magnificent Seven analogue soon enough.

TV:

Yesssssss time traveling Trek, featuring Thor! Can't wait!

I agree with you on all of those films! Beyond was a blast and better than I had hoped/expected, The Nice Guys was a crackling delight, Deadpool knew what it was and was very good at being that (even if part of what it was was too juvenile for my tastes), and M:I:GP was a nice diversion with a couple nice setpieces

I'm considering going to see Ghost in the Shell this week. I have no attachment to the property so I can't be disappointed by that, and I've heard enough things that make it sound interesting, even in negative reviews, that I'm willing to give it a shot.

I have thoughts.

How Was Your Pop Culture Weekend?

I haven't read it but I heard was very good.

I saw The Lost City of Z last night. I went in wanting to love it and walked out admiring what it tried to do more than anything. As I tend to do, I went long on why I felt that way.

How 'bout that ending, eh?

There have been, but both Review and The Shield had a single place where they absolutely, unquestionably needed to end to tell the best possible version of their story, and both nailed it.

Yup. It was a perfect capper. Probably the most perfectly appropriate ending to a show since The Shield.

That was an excellent finale.

This has essentially been a talking point on local news since last night.

Isn't that basically Lucha Underground?

I would say "that should teach 'em", but I know it doesn't.
