I could see her meaning a monster in the Frankenstein's Monster sense. The Russians took her and transformed her into something she wasn't, forced sterilization included. For people to be angry about that comparison is such a misreading of the film I have to assume they misread it intentionally.

Beauty and the Beast: Much better than I expected and even better than I hoped. It's not as good as the animated version, but neither were 99% of the films I've ever seen.
